IT’S THE GREATEST WTF EVARRRR! I love arts and crafts, I love cute things, and I love Etude House makeup…nothing can go wrong! Does anyone else find that arts’n’crafts are a great happiness inducing therapy for you?
Hokay. So here’s the deal, this was actually really hard to find because it is just a limited edition freebie. It took a lot of running around to different Etude House locations to find it in stock. I just could just kick myself because I saw this kit come out before I left for Bali and I was like…”hmm that’s really cute…I’ll look into it when I come back” but I didn’t realize it was a free giveaway. So if you buy the BB Cream Mineral Cushion (or in this case I bought the mint green cream since I already own the BB Cream Cushion) it just comes with this awesome DIY decoration pack FOR FREE! FOR FREEEEEEE! *dances in the wind* Frankly, I would have paid extra just to have this decoration kit…hahahah suckers! I realized I spent most of my time excitedly decorating the makeup compact and I didn’t even tell you about the makeup at all. I was just like LET’S DO ITTTTTTTT.
So yes, this makeup is indeed green. It’s a green mint coloured cream that is made for applying to your face like a base under your BB Cream/foundation. This is straight up colour theory here. Have you ever tried to cover an angry red zit with skin coloured cover up and it didn’t work? That’s because a skin colour makeup doesn’t actually neutralize the colour red. So first apply a mint green to your red patches (like my nose and cheek zone and sometimes my jawbone) and then I add my skin coloured BB Cream all over. It’s MAGIC MAGIC MAGICCCCC. OHMOOHMOOHMO…OHMOOHMOOHMO… *dances to Secret*
So I also have the cushion kit in the BB Cream format. So normally BB Cream is bought in tube format and you just squeeze it out onto your hands or use a sponge to spread it about. If you don’t know what BB Cream is, I did a review on a several different brands which you can watch here. The BB Cream cushions are a big trend in Korea right now, and every brand has their version of it. I find that the BB cushions are great but for light coverage only. It doesn’t cover all your flaws like the squeeze tube variety does.
In fact, if you’re a dude that wants to try out BB Cream, it will really help to even out your skin colour and get rid of those red blotches on your skin. It isn’t as intimidating as something like BB Cream in the tube since you can’t screw up and apply too much. Before we film Simon uses the BB Cream cushion now and it looks a lot more natural than when he tried to apply the squeeze tube variety. I’m sure you’ve seen some videos where Simon looks vampire white only up to his neck. Hahahaha! My Big Toasted Coconut doesn’t match my Pale Vampire Skin tones!
So I have a theory that the reason these cushions result in a lighter coverage is because the compact is made with a sponge that is soaked in BB Cream. It seals airtight so that the makeup doesn’t dry up and it comes with a very fine applicator sponge which you have to dab onto the BB Cream soaked sponge. Sponge on sponge action doesn’t really result in copious amounts of BB Cream so you can apply it to your skin in a much lighter way. So I use my squeeze BB Cream when I have a whole day out but when I’m just looking for a little light coverage like when I’m at the airport or if I’m on a road trip it’s great to just pop in your bag.
So that’s it for my DIY candy compact kit! This was super fun and it totally matched the amazing fan-made cellphone case I already have (which I totally adore, thanks again ^^). If anyone has done anything similar please share some pics of your final product with us! Also, dudes and ladies that aren’t into makeup, do you think you’d consider trying out this BB Cream cushion? Let me know!
