As you might have seen yesterday, we’ve revamped our K Crunch segment to be weekly, rather than monthly. We’ve noticed that a lot of people, in both Korea and not in Korea, have trouble finding good Korean indie music. Trust us, it’s out there. We often head to Hongdae, a very artsy and musically friendly part of Seoul near an art University, and they have TONS, and I mean TONS of venues for local indie bands to play. But how can we spread this news to other people? It’s not like everyone lives in Korea, so we’re hoping to use this new playlist format to talk about an indie song, and then send people over to their video to give them a bigger view count and hopefully some new subscribers.

Also, we’ve got some friends at the awesomely helpful website Korean Indie (hi Anna!!! HIII!!! ANNA hiii!!!!!! HI HI HI!!!!!! *jumps around like crazy people..Anna pretends to not know us and walks away embarrassed*) It’s an awesome site that reports on the Indie scene, and they agreed to help update us on new Indie bands that we would probably never find on our own.

One last thing, there are A LOT of people leaving suggestions about their fav Korean Indie bands, if you leave your response as a YouTube video response rather than a comment, we just might feature YOU in our playlist too! OoOOOooOOooHHHHH! DO IT!!!! ^^

Ok! Enough chat! ONWARDS!!!! *fist pump to the sky* Let’s make this short and sweet, oh and don’t forget to check out the website Korean Indie for more info on the bands!

Today we’re going to be featuring:

Electronica: Sentimental Scenery – View:
Watch on YouTube / Read at Korean Indie

Indie rock with a retroish twist: Chang Kiha & The Faces - 풍문으로 들었소:
Watch on YouTube / Read at Korean Indie

Punk with some funk: Super Kidd – Feel Good:
Watch it on YouTube / Read at Korean Indie

Indie rock: Black Bag – Blue Sky:
Watch on YouTube / Read at Korean Indie

Let us know what you think!

For the original post on K Crunch Indie: Views, Faces, Kidds, and Skies, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

The New K Crunch: KpopCharts Update

Kpop

Block B

Brown Eyed Girls

EXO

F.T. We started the K Crunch because we wanted to talk about different things that we don’t get the chance to mention during our Music Mondays, so we started it off as a monthly recap. Unfortunately, though, different things get in the way, like Vacations to Canada and Year End How to Dance Kpop Videos.

Also, once a month isn’t enough to talk about all that comes out. Many videos come out every week, and some, like Teen Top’s “Crazy”, are really popular, but don’t make it through for a Music Monday. That sucks!

So, here’s the deal: we’re taking our K Crunch, and making it into three weekly segments. Saturdays we’ll talk about what’s new on the KpopCharts and give you a chance to vote for them. Sundays we’ll talk about Korean indie music which we almost NEVER have a chance to talk about, but want to talk about, because there’s a lot of awesome Korean Indie music out there. And lastly, on Monday, before Kpop Music Monday, we’ll talk about a random hodgepodge of songs. Some old, some new, some whatever!

Also, we’ll be making these videos into playlists. So we’ll talk about the video and introduce it, then it’ll run, and then our next speaking part will automatically run, so on and so forth. Think of it as us being VJs, kinda. Yes, we wanted to be VJs growing up. Don’t make fun of us! So sit back if you’ve got half an hour to spare, and watch some Korean Music videos and us blathering about them

Lastly, yes, some of you might be wondering why we’re not talking about K Dramas anymore. The answer’s simple: we don’t have time to watch them. Ha! We’re so busy doing other things and starting other projects that we don’t really watch many Kdramas anymore. And by we I mean Martina. I never watched them to begin with. GROSS! Martina will sneak in an episode or two of something, but not enough to be able to talk about the show to any great depth.

Let us know what you think!

For the original post on The New K Crunch: KpopCharts Update, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

Our Interview with B.A.P.

Kpop

B.A.P.

Secret

We got to interview B.A.P. after their Debut showcase in Seoul. The B.A.P interview is finally here!

If you follow us on Twitter, you would have seen over the weekend that we went to the B.A.P. Debut showcase. We also mentioned it in this week’s Music Monday when we reviewed B.A.P.’s “Warrior”. We were lucky enough to attend the showcase as press and we’re also giving away some B.A.P goodies for the contest in this week’s review. Go check it out if you haven’t already!

Anyhow, the debut was really more of a concert. The energy was amazing, and they already had a lot of fans eagerly waiting to see them with signs and everything! As we said in our Music Monday review, they really don’t seem like a rookie group as their stage presence was awesome.

Oh!!! And we also got to see a great performance by Secret. Woot! We never got to review Madonna, but we totally love the song, and we actually memorized the dance back when we were on Star King (though we never got to perform it on stage). Ah! Great song. We’ve uploaded the video of their performance. Check it out!

After the show we got to interview B.A.P. We were lucky enough to have M.E Malaysia reach out to us before the show. They invited us along for the interview. Huzzah! So thanks to them for being so awesome, we seriously owe you guise more then just street food in Hongdae!

I’m not sure if you’ll see this interview anywhere else – that is, until some fans steal it and re-upload it (that’s what watermarks are for!). Apart from us and M.E Malaysia, I don’t think we saw anyone else in the room. So, for all intents and purposes, this might just be an exclusive interview. Woot!

Thoughts about the interview: we could see that they were really tired. I mean, they had their debut performance, and then a fan-signing afterwards, and then us. They were probably starving and tired, so we were happy that they took the time to talk with us. Also, we didn’t get this on video, but it turns out Bang Yong Gook knows us! He seemed really surprised when he saw us walk in, and we weren’t sure if it was because we reviewed his song before, or because we had food stuck in our teeth. But then afterwards we were told that he saw our review and liked it. Sweet! See guise! Kpop idols can appreciate our humour! Now the companies might not get it, but the idols do, at least. So who do we know is on our side now? UKISS, Shindong, and Bang Yong Guk…must…gather…a bigger army…of Idols to protect us…from angry fans…*shifty eyes*

And that’s it! Make sure you check out our review of B.A.P.’s “Warrior” and enter the contest for your chance to win a lot of B.A.P. swag. If you don’t win, you can still pick up the album on YesAsia. Yay! We’ll end this post off with the whole performance of B.A.P’s Warrior Live at their debut. Loved the awesome bunny DJ!

Side note: I’m not sure if we’re right about them being choreographers as well. Maybe dancers? Sorry if we got that wrong!

For the original post on Our Interview with B.A.P., or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

WANK – Korean Bakeries

Kpop

Korea travel

Korean Coffee

Korean Food

Life in Korea

We visit some Korean bakeries, both modern and traditional. It was something like -13 when we filmed this. Nasty! We spent most of our time worrying if our fingers froze off. Seriously! The camera has tiny dials that aren’t really operable while wearing chubby gloves.

Enough complaining! We got to do something pretty fun today. It’s kind of like those Korean Convenience Store Raids we did a while ago. Today we get a whole bunch of bakery stuff and try it out.

Most of the interesting stuff we try is from Paris Baguette, which has one of the most misleading names out of any Korean business we know. First off, it barely has any baguettes. It has them, sometimes, rarely. Whenever we want to get a baguette and we go to Paris Baguette, they don’t have baguettes. WTF!? That’s like Dunkin Donuts not having Donuts. Maybe it’s just the Bucheon locations that suffer from a disparity of baguettes, but – really – in all the times we’ve tried to get a baguette we’ve come out successful maybe 5% of the time.

Secondly, it’s got the name “Paris” in it, which makes us think it’s French, or is like French bakeries, or does something French. No. No French. The food there isn’t really French at all. No French writing. No French people. No people speaking French. NOTHING! And so, after living in Korea for a while, we’ve learned to not expect anything French out of Paris Baguette apart from its title.

Aaaanyhow, Paris Baguette, not being Parisian or offering anything French, does offer some interesting food. Interesting. Not great food, mind you. It’s not like we ever get the urge and shout “oooh I could go for that surprise sausage thingy!” We think of Paris Baguette more as desperation food: we’re walking Spudgy in the morning and we’re hungry, so we’ll swing by there and pick up something quick to eat. Uh! We need to pick up some better eating habits.

Cocohodo, on the other hand, IS something we get random cravings for. We’re not really sure if it’s traditional Korean food, though. We thought it was, for some reason (maybe the marketing?). Ah! It’s still really yummy. Korea really loves Red Bean deserts, like you might have seen when we ate Patpingsu. Red bean pastries, though, oftentimes don’t do it for us. But for some reason we really like these cocohodos. There’s gotta be a different recipe for their red bean paste, or the walnuts offset the redbeaniness, or something. We don’t know. We just love these things and used this video as an excuse to eat them. So there!

On a side note: check out the cocohodo website. We find question #2 especially amusing. Really?! Women can run the shops alone? Without the help of a man! That’s amazing! /sarcasm. Is there something we’re missing here? Maybe something didn’t translate over well.

And on that note, here are this week’s Bloopers. We spent most of our time with hand warmers, which you might remember from our Keeping Warm in Korea video from a while ago. If you haven’t checked it out yet, watch the video here:

We’re really impressed by this song. As you may know, the whole cutie-boy image makes us gag, and new bands seem to fall back on that concept for safety’s sake. It works for different audience, but – since we’re older – it just doesn’t do it for us. We were surprised, then, to see that this song had such an aggressive concept going for it. We were worried as well, because – well – if you’re aggressive and hard, but you suck, then the video becomes embarrassing.

B.A.P. were able to overcome most of the rookie group pitfalls. They were exceptionally strong and confident for a debut song. And, like we mentioned in our review, we really don’t like it when people suck at rapping. B.A.P. fortunately don’t suck at rapping. Bang Yong Gook and Zelo are both really good at rapping, and both have distinctly definitive styles: while Bang Yong Gook is very grimy, Zelo is skippy and playful.

Sure, we did have some complaints. We’re not especially fond of the name. We’re partial to words or phrases more than confusing acronyms. Also, not really sure about the whole electro bunny thing. Really reminds us too much of Deadmau5, especially since it’s acting like a DJ as well. But, these are just small complaints from an otherwise grab song and video. While we’re not gonna say that we’re totally biased towards everything B.A.P. do from now on, we can say that we’re quite happy with this song and video, and hope that they can keep it up!

P.S. Top did not text message us during our video, just in case you were wondering. How could he? We were in the middle of filming! He couldn’t know what we were saying as we were saying it! Now, though, that’s he’s seen the video, he’s surely gonna call. Top: I know you’re reading this. Don’t get too upset! It was just a joke!

Also, I know you’re dying to have our B.A.P. remix (aka BIBIMB.A.P.) on your iPod. We uploaded it! But over here at the eatyourkimchi household, we like to balance out the serious with some silliness. That’s why we opened up our new channel, Open the Happy, to share with you all the different things that make us happy, and hopefully, you happy too. Think of it like a loot bag that you get after a kids birthday party, filled with wonderfully but totally useless stuff! Hurrrah!

We set them up in a mini-playlist in the video above. If you’re on a mobile device, I don’t think YouTube playlists work, so we’re posting the videos (and their info) here below!

Intoxicating the Noraebang with Junsu:

This is pretty much a guarantee every time we go to Noraebang. Imitating Xiah Junsu and making sex to the ground and air are also a guarantee. KEEEEEEYS AND TOUCH ME! RUB MY BANANAS! If you’re at a Korean Noraebang and want to sing it yourself, the number (and I’m pretty sure it’s universal) is 27160. MEMORIZE IT, and create sweet, sweet glorious lovemaking music next time you’re at the Noraebang and traumatize your friends! We sure do!

Spudgy’s After Bath Crazies:

He’s normally a really chill non-moving dog, but Spudgy, too, has a wild side. Give him a bath and he gets all crazy. Supposedly the after bath crazies is a common phenomena for dogs? Dog owners, is this true for your dogs too? I’m not sure, but we find it amusing. Go Spudgy Go! Yes, he’s not fully crazy, but – compared to how tame and sleepy he usually acts – this is as wild as he gets!

Oversized Cell-Phone cases:

We spend a lot of time at our local coffee shop 12dal and we really love the people that work there. The owner just bought these two cases for her and her boyfriend to use, and she knew that Martina would love it. Yes, Martina totally lost it when she saw these. Stitch is, after all, her favourite Disney character. These phone cases, though, are huuuuge! Isn’t one of the best aspects of the iPhone its small size? Why bulk it up that much? *Martina takes over computer* BECAUSE THEY’RE ADORABLE THAT’S WHY! The freakin ears POP open! GAHHHHHHHHHH!!! They only downside is that it looks like you murdered Stitch and stuffed your phone in his body…oh…. O__________________o

Martina singing “Lonely” in the shower:

Story behind this: it was my birthday on the 20th of January (yay!) and Martina had to go out that day to buy presents and prepare for my birthday. Problem is, she had to go alone. I couldn’t go with her because that would ruin the surprise, obviously! Why is this a problem? Because the two of us are practically joined at the hip. We live and work together all the time. Whenever we have to be apart from each other, we feel sad (cue rainbow vomit here). Yes, we’re big sucky babies without each other, so Martina sang a song to represent her feelings, 2NE1′s “Lonely”. She sat in the shower on her sad little shower stool and burbled out the lyrics for 20 minutes or so. Little did she know I recorded all of it. We know the crowd of commenters here on our site are a lot more civil than different crowds on different sites, so these disclaimers aren’t really relevant to you lovely people It seems like you here understand that we’re just talking about our experiences, and not as Korea scholars. So, yay to you guise! We really like the discussions that happen on this page and really want to thank you for your contributions

Anyhow, on with the show: we’re getting a lot of serious topics this month for our TL;DRs and today is no exception. Today’s question is from eaguyao001 from San Diego, California who asks,

“have you seen bullying as bad as they make it out to be in Korea? And if so, what do teachers normally do about it?”

Now we weren’t too clear on who this “they make it out to be” actually refers too, so we just assumed it meant Korean media, such as dramas, movies, and comics, aka “manhwa” 만화 in Korean or “manga” in Japanese. It’s true that any avid watcher/reader of Korean or Japanese drama and comics – such as myself, Martina – will know that high school life is a very, very common theme, and within this theme of school often comes the topic of bullying. Now we all know bullying exists in all parts of the world and at all age levels, so is bullying different in Korea, and if so, how?

Well the idea of bullying being “bad” in Korea, suggests that maybe it’s not as bad somewhere else, and frankly, we don’t think it’s possible to say one countries bullying is worst than the other, because bullying is equally terribly everywhere. So I don’t think that was the intention of the question (was it?). We’re thinking that the question was asking whether bullying is as prevalent in South Korean schools as it is in its depictions, which we really can’t answer. We taught at one school each, and our schools were in no way the norm. So the most we can talk about here is what we noticed in bullying in South Korea.

Our main point of interest deals with the school environment itself. We feel like Japan and Korea are similar in this way since both countries have ridiculously long school hours (7am – 11pm or later, Monday – Saturday) and in turn, the classroom becomes a second home. Students pretty much live at school; they brush their teeth after each meal, change into slipper shoes, personalize their desk with colourful seat cushions, pencil holders, and bring pillows to sleep on.

This is very different from how we experienced high school, both as high school students, and as former high school teachers in Canada. Since you moved classes between every subject, your desk was just an impersonal place to sit and be used by the next student. Our lockers were the only personal part of our high school career, and those were locked up tightly and often decorated with photos of friends and/or stuff we liked.

Korean students, on the other hand, have a single homeroom class that they stay in for the whole year. It’s the teachers that move between the classrooms. The students might leave that classroom once or twice a week to visit, for example, the Foreign English teacher’s classroom or the music room, but most classes are taught in their homeroom class. They also have little shoebox sized lockers, but they are located inside their homeroom classroom and many students don’t even bother to lock them. This environment creates a very important difference between how bullying occurs in North America and Korea. An attack by a bully in Korea can be aimed not just at you as a student, but also at all the stuff you deem important, the stuff you use to make you feel happier in your second home, the second home you study in for 16 hours, with the same students for the whole year. If you are being bullied by a classmate, there is no escape from them since you have to see them all day everyday. We’ve heard cases of shoes being vandalized, tacks hiding under seat cushions, or insults scribbled on desks.

We have heard stories from our Korean co-workers of students secretly fighting and bullying others in the washroom or outside the classroom for money or food, but personally, we’ve never seen that at our former schools. Possibly because we were at very good schools that were very focused on grades and studying, possibly also because our experiences with the students were a bit limited, since we had to teach around 22 different classes per week or so. However, even if you’re at a school that caters to students who are super duper focused on grades, there are forms of silent bullying that we actually have experienced, such as certain students being made 왕따 (wang-dda) which basically means they are made a social outcast and completely ignored by EVERYONE. Even if you don’t personally have a problem with this person, interacting with them will make you a wangdda and then you too will be isolated. In turn, students feel that it’s best to just ignore them as well. This most frequently happens to students who don’t find a social circle to fit into right away. Even if you’re made wang-dda in 1st year highschool, it can continue throughout your whole three years in high school. We were told some students will move schools in an attempt to escape their wang-dda labelling. A wang-dda student can experience bullying from silent ignoring all the way up to physical fighting. It depends on the school and the type of bullies present.

So what can teachers do to prevent this from happening? It seems like not much. When we talked to our Korean co-workers about it, they said that most students will just cast their eyes to the ground and not speak during their interrogation. Whole classrooms can be scolded for their bad behaviour but everyone just remains silent. Sometimes addressing the issue can make life worse for the bullied student, so many teachers feel like ignoring it is the best method. Just one of the big problems we see with Korean school system is that there are no guidance councillors available of any sort. There is no one for the students to confine in when they are stressed out or upset, and seeing a councillor or a psychologist outside of school just isn’t available and is really looked down upon.

If there’s anything we missed out on, or any other stories you care to share about this topic, please do let us know in the comments below. It’s my first eyeshadow tutorial and honestly, I’m so scared of the responses that I’ll get because I am in NO WAY trained to do make up. I’m sure you’ll be surprised to know that I only started wearing make up about two years ago in Korea. In fact, I was a real tomboy growing up. I was hanging out with all male friends, playing video games and sports, and breaking a million bones (actually more like, 5 to 6 bones: my poor stressed out parents!). The point is, I didn’t have time for make up, nor did I care for it. My longtime friends and family are just floored that I have so much make up now, ironically, only AFTER I met my dream husband, back when I was completely make up free. Isn’t it supposed to be the opposite? You take off your make up once you’re married and your husband is like, WHOA! WHERE ARE YOUR EYELASHES!!! Hahahahhahaha…I digress…

I used to be one of those people who judged people for wearing a lot of make up, like, “Why is she doing that? She’d be so much prettier without make up!” But then, after my first year in Korea, I became really inspired to get in touch with my feminine side. I realized that make up isn’t just about covering up your face or hiding something, it’s also an expression of yourself, it’s like fashion for your face!

So how did I get to this drastic change of heart? Well, the women and men in Korea dress impeccably, for starters. In Toronto, people are very stylish too, but not in a Korean way, you know what I’m saying? Korea (and I think a lot of Asia in general) is very okay with girls embracing their girly side. I’ve never seen so many pretty, frilly, dresses, or billowy fitted coats with giant buttons before. I was really amazed and felt like I could never dress like that, but then one day I was like…wait, I’m a girl! I can wear a frilly dress too! I can do it! After a big pep talk, I finally started to unleash the inner Hello Kitty within me, and it was like an explosion of cute. Soft dresses, hair accessories, and pink! I realized there was a whole new world of fashion expression out there that I was avoiding due to my rock/metal/gothy/tom boy side.

So, after that I started playing with make up, having fun with BRIGHT colours and sparkles! Things that expressed my happiness for life through my vibrant eyeshadows or giant watermelon earrings. I received a lot of encouragement from my viewers, who noticed small details, like my earrings, or matching colours, or eye shadow. All the comments made me feel like, “wow, Martina, you can be a girl too!” So exciting for me…but I still can’t and won’t do heels. Sorry, I’m like a drunk newborn baby deer.

WHOA that was a long story! Can anyone relate? I hope you can forgive my lack of technical knowledge and enjoy my little eyeshadow tutorials on the random and crazy colours schemes I come up with! If you have any suggestions or ideas for colours ideas, please please let me know!

Back to the video (yeah, that was the whole point of this after all!) the first video is my makeup box and the stuff that I use. I don’t know all of their proper names. Sorry! The second video is my Girl-Verine Eyeshadow tutorial. Not sure if it’s really a tutorial, but, oh well. Open the Happy! (I need a new kick phrase)

For the original post on What Makeup Does Martina Use & Wolverine Eye Shadow, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

New Video Channel: Open the Happy!

Open the Happy

We've opened a new YouTube channel: it's called Open The Happy! Let’s continue this by saying…sorry for not WANKing this week! We tried. Really. We tried, but it was just not working. A lot of things are shut down for Seollal, and if we went anywhere it would be very dead and deserted. Also, getting there would be hellish. Our friend came to visit us from Wonju since he has time off for the holiday, and it’s usually a 2 hour drive away. Took him EIGHT FREAKING HOURS TO GET HERE! EIGHT! EEIIIGHHHHTT!! So, screw that. No WANK this week. We’ll be WANKing again next week though!

So, what we decided to do this week, is final unveil a project that we’ve been thinking about for a long time. It’s our new YouTube channel, Open the Happy!

People who stumble upon our site or youtube videos now that we have plenty of videos, often think of us as this “big” blog, rather then just two people with their own personal opinions. And now that we have more viewers, we’re starting to experience more criticism by people who think we shouldn’t say things “this way” or “that way” or that we should be doing our videos “this way” or “that way.” But, frankly, we still think of ourselves as just two normal people, Simon and Martina. We make goofy videos in our apartment about stuff we like. We don’t want to change our videos because suddenly more people are viewing them, and we miss being able to just make a video of something random, without having tons of disclaimers all over it. We just want to put up videos, you know?

After all, it’s how we started off, just shooting vids of stuff and showing it. Now it seems like everything we do is a big production that takes a lot of time to make and has to be thought out REALLY carefully or we’ll be burnt like witches. But the bottom line in, we really love making videos. We just miss making random stuff as well. And so, Open the Happy will let us express ourselves in a return to our roots kind of way. Less official stuff, more random happy stuff!!!

There are lots of small videos here and there that we just don’t have the place to put up. Our main simonandmartina channel is for our bigger videos, like Music Mondays and WANKs. Our Bonus channel is for our TLDRs and our bloopers. So this new channel will be for miscellaneous videos, like makeup tutorials. A lot of people have been asking me [Martina] to do them, but BE AWARE: I have never been trained so these are just for fun. We’ll also have Spudgy antics, delicious cupcakes and desserts, random baking recipes, happy vlogging, toys, whatevers!!! Just stuff that we like, not necessarily Korea or Kpop themed. Just things that make us happy. Hence the name. Open the happy!

So! We’re starting the channel out with two videos. The first video is just a break down of what’s in Martina’s makeup kit, since she gets this question a lot. After that, she’s posted her very first make up tutorial on CUTE WOLVERINE eyeshadow!!! You read that right, as in, the X-Men Wolverine…you’re curious aren’t you? Well check out the full blog post on these two videos here and don’t forget to subscribe to our new channel so we can all OPEN THE HAPPY together!

P.S. Yes, we meant to call it “Open the Happy”

For the original post on New Video Channel: Open the Happy!, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

Sunny Hill Grasshopper Song – Kpop Music Mondays

Kpop

Loen Entertainment

Sunny Hill

We review Sunny Hill's Grasshopper song for this week's Kpop Music Monday and get all English Lit Student Analysis-ey.

For the original post on Sunny Hill Grasshopper Song – Kpop Music Mondays, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!

This week we’re reviewing a video that we’re really surprised made it to the top of the list. Great job Sunny Hill fans for voting in Sunny Hill’s “The Grasshopper Song” which we love! If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out here:

To begin with, wow! We’re really happy to finally be reviewing Sunny Hill. We spoke about them before in our K Crunch, but that was only in passing. We thought that they weren’t really popular enough to get voted in. Boy were we wrong! Sure, it wasn’t like a Big Bang overload crashing our site, but Sunny Hill still raced to the top of our Kpop Charts. Awesome!

Running a video site kinda makes me feel this way...

We’re happy that we get to review this, not only because it’s a cool sounding song, but it’s deep. And the video’s deep. And, really, we don’t get afforded many opportunities to talk about songs that have a deep message. Yay! Talking about this song and video made us feel as if our English degrees aren’t useless! Great success! And, come on, how often can we make a dirty sounding joke out of a literary device term?! NEVER! Ohhhhh yeah! Not that English degrees are useless, of course. It helped us become who we are and yada yada yada, but boyyyy would I have loved to have taken some courses in university about web development or video editing. But that’s another story.

I guess one of the main reasons we feel like we really like this song and video is because we – the two of us here – kinda feel like grasshoppers. We’re not working for a big company, we’re not working salary jobs and working for promotions or anything like that. Our only job is this blog. We’re not hoarding up as much sugar as a worker ant, but we’re doing something that’s making us happy, at least. And we’re not bohemian hippies as well! We’re kinda hipstery dorks, but at least we’re not airy fairy!

We’re lucky enough to be able to do what we love doing. We don’t know many people who can say the same thing, unfortunately, and so we feel like this song and video especially is relevant to our lives. Or maybe we read our own lives into the video too much instead? We’re not sure. Long story short, we like this song, and we’re not hippies.

So, yeah, we definitely recommend picking up the Sunny Hill Album, if you can’t tell! We like this song a lot, and we definitely support this group and their message

And, on a side note, some people might be confused as to how this beat out Teen Top’s “Crazy”, which has more votes, shares, and comments. We’re not going to answer this question here, but we’ve explained the ranking algorithm a bit more in our Tumblr post, in case you’re wondering.

Lastly, don’t forget to check out the Bloopers. Martina…is a dirty switch girl. Anyone read that manga?

For the original post on Sunny Hill Grasshopper Song – Kpop Music Mondays, or for our kpop and Korean Food videos, check out our Korea blog!
