Korean Convenience Store Raid: Part 3

Filed as: Korean Food // Responses: 22

On with the show! Today we finally move on to the sweet stuff, now that we’re finished all of our savory foods. We had some – well – interesting things to eat today.

Orion Cookies, Crunky Bars, Market Brownies, and something we transcribe as Yawn Yang Neng.

A lot of these have their Western Counterparts. If you remember our Korean Kic Ker Bar post from a long time ago, you’ll know exactly what we mean: Kic Ker bars are really Kit Kat bars. In today’s video, we’ve got Orion Cookies as Oreo Cookies and Crunky Bars as Crunch bars. The Yawn Yang Neng bar is something completely new to us, and it’s – errrr – interesting.  Also, if any of you know what these Yawn Yang Neng bars are supposed to be, then please tell us! They’re so confusing!

Packaging in Korea is impossible, i have noticed. chip bags seem to be sealed with super glue, i can never open snack cakes without squishing some of it, and i always tear off too much of the foil on candy bars, so that i'm forced to eat the whole thing….not that that's bad or anything >.>

as for those cameo cookies, they do taste like an oreo by themselves, but did you try them with milk? they are terrible with milk. they don't even soak it up like an oreo. they're like….milk resistant. I was quite disappointed when i tried them for the first time.

We did try them with milk. They dissolve instantly. They're good with peanut butter on them, though. Oh yeah. Peanut butter! No joke.

The Yawn Yang Geng bars are red bean squished and made into jelly. (If you still didnt know)
Do you know the red bean paste in the korean pastry bread? Thats it.
Or the 'pat bing su' red bean paste on top? Thats it too!

So, after finding out awhile ago that TOP from Big Bang supposedly loves ì—°ì–‘ê°±, I immediately went and bought a bar of it at one of the Korean markets around here aaaaaand…. never got around to eating it. Seeing as how this is my first time ever seeing this video of yours, I went and found my ì—°ì–‘ê°± (which has now been expired since July), and am now eating it. It's not exactly gelatinous anymore, but I must say I love how it tastes! Thanks for inspiring me to finally eat the damn thing. :) I'll for sure be buying more in the future (and eating them promptly this time).

Haha Crunk.  In BC, Crunk means a chronic drunk.  So you get crunk by getting high (from marijuana) and drunk at the same time.

Never heard it used in either way you described in the video.

In Ireland, when you say you had a lot of fun, or that something was a good time, you might say “Last night was good craic!”  Craic is pronounced “crack.”  Makes for some fun phone calls home.

Mom: So what did you do last night?
Me: Had a ton of craic, it was unbelieveable.
      Mom: uhhhh…..
