2NE1 I Am The Best – Kpop Music Mondays

Ok, so no other band had a chance of being reviewed this week. At all. We got more votes for this video than all other videos…BEFORE the official video was even released. After it was released, we spent hours cleaning up our Facebook wall of everyone posting the 2NE1 video over and over again. In fourth place on our Facebook poll, Naega Chae Chalaga; 6th place: BAM RATATATA. So…yeah. No choice here. BOMBA RATATA TA TA TA TA TA BEET!

And it’s not like we wanted to do another video anyways. When 2NE1 started releasing their teasers for the video we were totally stoked for it, and had a disco party in a laundromat to celebrate. It’s a really awesome song. Really awesome. So awesome that we’re thinking it might be a contender with B2ST’s “Fiction” for our favorite song of the year. No joke. We love B2ST’s song because it’s just a beautiful, beautiful song. 2NE1′s song isn’t really beautiful, but it’s hella exciting. Like, this is the kind of music you put on in the morning when you didn’t really sleep well and are groggy, and you need something to wake you up. This is that song.

2NE1 seems like they needed this song. What was up with all their sad music lately? We reviewed 2NE1′s Lonely and Park Bom’s “Don’t Cry” and were just…upset. That’s not the 2NE1 we knew and loved. Sure, it shows another side to their music. Maybe some people will argue that they can’t be bombastic all the time, and they should make some serious music, but we’ll say that they’re wrong. 2NE1, please keep on making songs like this. I think people like your more mellow music, but they LOOOOVE songs like this. WHO’S WITH ME?! WHO’S WITH ME?!?!?!

As for the video, we said most of what we wanted to say in the video, except for a couple of things. #1 what are they shooting at the end of the video? The pyramid, right? But here’s what’s confusing: they’re outside of the pyramid at first. Then do they go inside of the pyramid to shoot it up? That would be the only thing that makes sense, because they’re all back to back, which means they’re shooting up things around them. If they were outside of the pyramid, then only the one person facing the pyramid would be shooting at it, and all of the other shooters would just be murdering those innocent drummers, who did NOTHING WRONG in the video to deserve being murdered.

#2 why does their bat say HIT! on it? Anyone? I don’t know about you, but we don’t need my bats to tell me what to do with them. Not like my bullets say “Shoot!” on them. Not that we have bullets or guns anyways. We’re not from Texas. Or maybe they have different bats for different purposes. That’s their hitting bat. Maybe they have a scratching bat? A bread-buttering bat? We don’t know.

Well, that’s all we can think about for this week. Sorry for the video being late today. We were busy filming Star King for most of today. We would have had it edited over the weekend, but we spent most of the weekend rehearsing for Star King. Ah! So then we came home right after the filming and got right to working! Woohoo! Anyhow, we were told that the episode should air in a couple of weeks. We’ll be putting up our video from the day at the same time as they air theirs (we don’t want to get in trouble for putting it up any sooner).
