Kpop Music Mondays: T-ara “Why Are You Being Like This?”
For this week’s edition of Kpop Music Monday’s we’re reviewing T-ara’s “Why Are You Being Like This” and trying to figure out if they meant to sound like creepy stalkers or not.
Come on! Listen to the song again and tell me that the song isn’t a bit freaky. Maybe they’re trying to get the guy to partake in Public Displays of Affection, but the first time we heard it the song sounded like a Stalker’s Guide to Writing Freaky Fanmail. And, let’s be honest, the only reason a lot of people probably don’t interpret it that way is because T-ara is smoking hot, and smoking hot people can’t be crazy stalkers, obviously! Buuuut keep in mind the other songs they made. “I Go Crazy Because of You” and now this? See where we’re going here?
Otherwise, we’re totally digging this song, Simon more so than Martina (probably because it’s a girl band). It’s got a great 80′s feel to it, and we’ve really been really into 80′s throwback music lately (like Twin Shadow and Cut Copy, for examples of other non k-pop music we listen to), so this song caught our attention immediately. The video even has an 80′s house party movie scene feel to it. Sweet! Martina was bored by the video, because the girls obsess in front of their mirrors, but Simon still dug it. Doesn’t it have a cool hazy glow to the whole thing?
Finally, as always, big thanks to JB and Annie from [닉쑤] Enjoy Your Happy Life~* for the Korean subtitle translations! Shazam! Also, we’ve got some extra footage from this video going up on our Facebook Fan Page tomorrow, so make sure to check it out :D One more thing: don’t forget to vote for who we should dance to in our upcoming Kpop 2010 video. Voting ends in a couple of weeks :D
