Portable Foot Bath

Ah, so…story time. When we were filming this, we kinda had a take that didn’t make the final cut. When I first reveal the foot bath from behind my back, I throw them on the ground for effect. We cut that part out, because I actually wound up throwing it on Martina’s toes. AH! And because the bottom of them have a gridded hard plastic pattern, it totally scraped the skin off of Martina’s toes. She was not too impressed. HOWEVER, when we did the second take, and then put Martina’s feet into the foot bath, the cool water in the foot bath was very soothing, and her toes didn’t hurt anymore. So that’s a strong selling point that we didn’t actually plan on, but fortunately came across! I know Martina sometimes wears shoes that tear at her toes (why girls go through such pains to wear uncomfortable shoes is beyond me), so this foot bath will actually be used by us in the future! And it can be used by you as well, if you tear your toe skin as well. Yep.

Otherwise, I’m starting to get a lot more comfortable with being embarrassed in public. We shot this on a Monday afternoon, and it should have been empty and quiet in the free park, but for some reason there was a whole lotta foreigners walking by at that time, and we could see them staring at us as we walked, hand in hand, with Martina dragging her giant bathtubs on her feet and making puddles along the way. Subtlety was never really our strong suit. For those of you who are coming to our Meet Your Kimchi events here in the US and we talk about being embarrassed filming in public, here’s another one for the books :D

Also, even though we kinda poked fun at this item, we could really use it right about now. We just landed in Atlanta (see you Atlanta Nasties tomorrow!) and we have a porch that we can sit on – our first porch during our trip – and I’d really love to sit down outside and have a good foot soak. It’s hot here, but not nearly as hot as Houston, so sitting outside with a cold beer and a pink foot bath seems like the best thing a man can do right about now.

But first, time to find one of those chicken and waffle places everyone keeps telling us about. Let’s see what all the fuss is about. Woohoo!

  1. Big heat wave is approaching to my country so these bathtubs might be very useful. Especially when I think about my methods about managing with heat – I usually just do walks to my freezer and hold my head there untill my mum says that all the stuff are gonna to defrost :D I can’t imagine temperatures reach to nearly 40°C :o

  2. Haha! Okay, but how are these different from regular rubber boots/wellies? Couldn’t you just fill those with water and get the same effect…? Hmm….

  3. This video got me so curious about the shoe sizes in Korea. Is it harder for females to find shoes for sizes 10 -13? I wear size 10/11 as well and it’s a pain to find shoes that fit perfectly in American stores.

  4. We wear shoes that hurt because we want to be pretty and society has taught us that beauty hurts. That or maybe people who make women’s shoes are a bunch of men who have never actually seen a woman’s foot, so they just make them weird shapes out of their imagination. That would explain a lot of my shoe-shopping experience.
