Tangerine Juicer

Ok so we’ve seen lots of cute things here in Japan, far too many for us to buy at once, so we’re trying to pace ourselves, but when we saw this we couldn’t really resist. We had just bought a big bag of tangerines the night before, and when we were walking around we saw this in a store window, and we knew what we had to do. We had to buy this. We had to try it out.

Also, we filmed this video outside, not only because it was a beautiful day, but because the lighting in our last WTF was HORRENDOUS. Ah! It was so bad! But it was gorgeous outside today! We went to Kichijoji park. I don’t know if that’s the name of the park. I think Kichijoji might have a few parks. But this one is pretty big, and lots of people go there, and so I’ll call it Kichijoji park. It’s also close to the Studio Ghibli Museum! We need to go there, somehow. But that’s not the point. The point is, we took our juicer with us to the park, found a nice little bench area to sit and set up in, and made a bunch of juice.

In good news, I think we should be able to move into our new house next week. Exciting! The paperwork took a lot longer than what we’re used to, but it’s all done now. We’ll share our house hunting video with you as soon as it’s done, and explain how things are different than what we’re used to. It’s really quite fascinating. Real estate laws: interesting. Whoa do I sound nerdy.

  2. Watched this while skiing. An awkward time to watch a video, but that’s besides the point. It really made my day and made me feel that no matter where I go or what I do, you guys are always there for me and this community that you have grown. You guys are great! Keep it up!

  4. Can you buy this online?! I need it for reasons. Delicious fresh squeezed juice reasons.

It would probably work great for lemons and limes too, actually! Maybe really small grapefruits too.

  8. Martina, I’m totally with you on the kitchen-playroom idea!=D Just yesterday I was having a similar conversation with my boyfriend – showing him some of the things I want to order for our kitchen when we move in together, he was not impressed=D But why would you want to have an ordinary soup ladle, when you can have one, that looks like Lochness monster! Or why would you want to have an ordinary juicer, when you can have this cute thing!^^

  10. I found this ad for it on YouTube. I think Simon may get tired of hearing it very quickly as I think Martina may be playing it a few hundred times!

  12. Today I learnt that a tangerine is a type of mandarin. In Australia we just call them all mandarins!

Also in Japanese its mikan ( like me-can nit my-can.

    • Tangerines are very similar to mandarin oranges and look pretty much the same, but there is a significant, though slight, taste difference. I personally prefer the taste of oranges.

      • I could never really taste the difference between Tangerines and Mandarins. I thought they were just two words for the same thing :D

  13. That is a totally cute juicer! It looks like it might be a good size for lemons too (I like lemons). Though I don’t use half my kitchen things after the first or second time cause I hate trying to clean them. I think you guys should definitely go to the studio Ghibli museum though and film it so that I can live vicariously through you :)
