We thought of the idea months and months ago, but didn’t really know how to build it. Martina spent some time trying to figure out the best way to play this game and today, it finally came together! Finally we can present: the Kpop Idol Reveal Quiz! You can play along as well at home.
We occasionally play games, like we did for the Kpop Superfan Test, and the Kpop English Test, and we have great fun with them. Hopefully you’ll have fun with them as well. We’ve made an Adobe Photoshop PSD file available for you to download if you want to play it and it should open in other programs, such as Pixelmator. I’d suggest picking your own pictures, though, since you already know who we did in this one. You can even make this the movie star challenge, or food challenge, or whatever you want really. Each picture should be 1200×900, and should be put as layers below the tiles (if you don’t know about layers, I’m not sure how to describe them, really). Then, just deselect a layer when you pull the number. It’s that easy! Click here to get the file for you to play with, if you want. Martina included an opening layer on the downloadable game with brief instructions on how to play the game.
Basic instructions for the game are as follows: you take turn picking numbers randomly from 1 -20 and each number represents a tile. As the tile disappears, part of the person’s face is revealed. However, you can only choose to guess who it is FIRST and then pick a tile to disappear, otherwise, it will be too easy if you reveal a good tile and then also get to guess.
Play Along For Punishments and Rewards
You can play with all types of rewards and punishments and if you want to play along with us at home. Option one is to play with a friend and to pick Team Simon or Team Martina to bet on. Each time Simon chooses wrong, you get punished too! When he chooses right, you get a reward, and so on. You can also play the adult version by taking shots every time someone on your team makes an incorrect guess.
Race Against Us
The other option is to play against us which is perfect if you’re watching this video alone. If you can guess who the kpop person is before us, reward yourself with 10 points. If you guess them at the same time as us, 5 points. If you couldn’t guess them at all but you know who they are once their picture is totally revealed, 0 points. However, if you don’t know who they are at all, it’s a -5 for you! Let us know your score in the comment section below. I make a devilish grin because we already know who wins and loses but we won’t reveal it now…buwahahahahaha!
So, how did you do? Did you get everyone right? Could you guess before we did or were you at a similar speed? I’m still shocked we couldn’t get you-know-who (if you already watched the video) but I don’t want to reveal anything for those of you that haven’t watched our video yet.
We’ve got some extra scenes, simply because filming this WAS OVER AN HOUR! To put that into perspective, when we film our Kpop Music Monday list videos, we usually film 25-30 minutes of talking, and 15-35 minutes of skits, then we cut it down to around 10 minutes. This was a lot longer. It took over two hours just to import and transcode the footage! Argh! And, I know some people might say that we should just upload the video raw, without editing it, but that wouldn’t make for too great of a video. We’ve got down time between shots. For example, our camera stops recording after 12 minutes. It’s just a problem with DSLRs, so there’s a lot of black screens until we realize, holy crap, the camera stopped recording again. And then there are lots of shots of Rose (our web developer and KpopTaemin superfan) coming into the shot and setting up the tiles for the next round so that there was no cheating McCheaterson going on. Aaahhhh anyhow, here are the extra scenes and bloopers! Can you guess who the last kpop idol was that we couldn’t guess? Let us know!
