VolleySock

Many of you may have heard Simon talk of this awesome game. It’s volleyball meets soccer, hence the name VolleySock (we thought for a long time to come up with that name). Whenever Simon’s bored he watches it from his window, and wishes he could play it as well. It’s about time a video of it went up on the site. Be warned, though, that this isn’t the best rally ever. Some people seem to be camera shy, so they flub up a bit, but you’ll get the point of the game from watching the video anyway.

That's kinda popular in Brazil. We call it "Footvolley".

I like that name better than Volleysock.

Actually I just found out "Footvolley" is the international official name, and there's even a Footvolley World Cup! Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBjk7Cbc8Fc

But I'm not sure if that's what Koreans play here… the net is lower and they allow the ball to bounce once. Maybe it's "Foottennis"! ^_^

Congrats on your blog. It's really good!

Perhaps "Volleysock" is the North American way of saying it. LoL

Ha! I had no idea what to call it. Volleysock just made sense.

Thanks for the link! You know, someone told me before that the Korean way of playing Footvolley is much different, that the ball's not supposed to bounce at all. I didn't believe him, because that sounds too freaking difficult! And he had no proof, so I thought he was full of it. Guess he was right!

And glad you like our blog :D Thanks.

I believe its proper name is “sepak takraw”. Check out this AWESOME youtube link of Korea’s Pros! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXmjOMUdsPY (Busan Asian Games – Sepak Takraw)

Hey! Neat, I thought this game was only played by the Hmong, Laos, and Thai people! This game is played every year during the Hmong New Year & festivals! The Hmong community calls it Kab Taub "Kato" or just Kick Volleyball. If I'm correct, the Hmong calls the sport "Kab Taub" because of the ball, but I'm not quite sure on that!

    Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfSN7G-tOzQ

While the guys were playing Kab Tabu…

The girls were playing Yas or Jump Rope…a modified verson of Chinese Jump Rope: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHBFWdMbYCk&fe…

Oh, one more thing! The game is played with bamboo ball instead of volleyball.

    This game is Jok-Gu

What, they have it in Korea too? Lol I’ve only seen it in Indonesia, where they call it ‘sepak takraw’ (hi5 blake!)
