Hiya!

Last week when we wrapped up our WTF video segment, we announced that we’d be starting a new segment this week. Today we’re announcing what we’re doing! Woot! As a not-so-footy foot note, we’d like to apologize that this isn’t our actual first video for it. Martina got really sick last week, so we couldn’t go out and be adventuresome. If you listen carefully to Martina in our recent Music Monday, you can hear her snotty stuffed up nose and sore throat. Poor girl! BUT DON’T WORRY! We had brought an emergency supply of medicine Lipton Chicken Noodle soup from Canada. You know: the envelopes filled with yellow noodles and neon yellow soup mix? And she ate that for 5 whole days. Now she’s almost all better due to tummy warming! Oh yeah, those of you coming to Korea to live, bring a comfort food for when you’re sick. (We also packed Jello for those barfy flu days.)

AHEM! The point here is not that Martina was barfy sick, but that we couldn’t go outside to film without Martina giving sad stink sick face to the camera, so today we’re announcing our (no longer) secret plans for our segment! DRUMROLLLLL PLEAASSSEEEEEELE: It’s Wonderful Adventure Now Korea aka W.A.N.K! We’ll be WANKing every Wednesday and we’re hoping to hit some places or do activities in Korea that YOU guise want!

After all, we live in Korea and there are so many things we can experience that other people can’t. We’re hoping to get a list of things to do, and it can be random, like visit a Korean stationary shop to something specific, like hang out at a Korean tea room. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments, on Facebook, or on Twitter!

Oh, and on top of our normal adventure, we decided to make it more exciting by having a check list we must complete.

1. We must both find a kpop idol (it will probably be a picture) to pose into front of during our adventures.

2. We will complete to see who can find the most creative Engrish. Once we choose it, we can’t take it back. You guise will vote on who picked the most creative use of Engrish!

Wet Spudgy & Punishment Die

Wet Spudgy & Punishment Die

3. And last, a random challenge will appear like a Pokemon trainer in the woods calling us to battle…but without the pokemon…and poke trainer…and probably no woods. Makes it sound sadder. I WANT A SNORLAX!!! *ahem* The loser of this challenge will have to roll our giant punishment die to receive their shaming. It’s a 1/5 chance to be shamed, and there is just one “you lucky duck” number that will let us just walk away. To the right here, you’ll see a picture of the giant punishment die, as well as our freshly washed Spudgy (fyi, he doesn’t like being showered)

So, that’s it for now…let the suggestions begin!!!! Oh, and the winners for our last WTF are announced in the bloopers! Please send us an email and we’ll send out your packages ASAP, just in time for after-Christmas!

  5. LOL!! Can’t wait to see you guys wanking all over the place in Korea. I bet it will be a sight to see. Oh and Martina, I love Sean Paul too and you just happen to sing my favorite song of his – Sexy Punkie!! I cracked up laughing when I heard you sing it. I love the Spanish version instead of the English version, but yeah it doesn’t matter because either way I still can’t understand what he says be it English or Spanish. Hahaha!

oh and speaking of which, since i’ve only found your blog about a month ago, i’ve been going through the archives, and was impressed when i found the post where Martina was discussing her BBcream… WELL, the other day, while shopping in Tokyo, i found an Etude House shop, and omg, everything in there was SO cheap!! i bought a BBcream (and shitloads more stuff) since i remembered the name from Martina’s post, and omg, i love it! and i cannot get over how cheap it was!! seriously! i’m paying around 40$ for MAC foundation here… and this is like 10$!! thank you thank you Martina for that lovely recommendation! <3

  10. I am really curious about the nightlife in Seoul… for instance nightclubs/bars :) What kind of music do they play and does it look similar to our nightclubs/bars in Canada?

  11. I am so glad your are doing this. I really would love to see Korea, the people and the culture. Festivals, museums, just regular people…I love to people watch. And while your out and about if you could show us some places that dramas where filmed. On my places to go is the coffee shop from Coffee Prince. If you happen to go to these places and pick up a souviner, I would be willing to buy or participate in an auction.  Here is a website, click on the drama, scroll down and it gives all the filiming locations, really detailed. http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/CU/CU_EN_8_5_1.jsp?sets=&gotoPage=1

  13. In all seriousness though. How do you expect me to show my family your new segment with a name like that? Here’s to hoping they don’t know what it means, (like with WTF), but ‘wanker’ is fairly common in all commonwealth nations, including Australia. Haaaaah

(that would be epic, esp if you got to participate)…what about those Korean Markets where its packed with people an a lot of street food? Or… what about like Inkigayo and places like that? I heard that people can actually go there….Oh, also what about Jeju? Though that would mean a vacation time for you! (All the more on why you should do it there~~)

  21. Hey friends,

I have this idea which can really help me out. This summer I will be attending The University of Seoul and would really enjoy if you should check it out for me and other potential people who are going to study abroad there.
I want to see the outside of the university mainly and some outlying shops and cafes.
I think your task should be to find a student studying English or who knows English and try to convince them that the Canadian House hippo is in fact real!!
Person who does this in the least amount of time wins the challenge!

I mean what better places to WANK at than at kpop making locations??!!

  26. WANK =_=

    Adventure Ideas:
    1. Something Manhwa related. Example:
       – Places to find manhwa in Korea. (Supermarkets? Manhwa cafes? Second hand shops?)
       – Manhwa publishing companies. Can you get in? Submit a Spudgy comic?
       – Day in the life of a manhwa writer – find some unpopular writer who you can visit?
    2. Places to exercise. Health parks? Gyms? Rooftops? Running from the cops?
    3. Sports – what’s popular in Korea? Is there anywhere to watch cricket?
    4. Popular dating spots – parking lots? Drama landmarks?
    5. Korean nightlife – well you showed us the Irish bar. GD&TOP’s High High club?
    6. Slum areas. Oh cmon even Korea must have some dodgy places with gangs and graffiti?
    7. All those celebrity restraunts which everyone else will mention too
    8. Can you show me the inside of a Love Hotel? Is it allowed? :S

And last but not least. Go to YG Building. NOW.

  27. GO TO NAMSAN TOWER!! (and like the mountain and everything) there’re no idol pictures there, but I do know that some groups have left a lock of theirs there!! SHINee has one there I think hehe, I always wanted to see how Namsan tower looks like when it’s not in dramas and stuff hehe

  28. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the amount of times you guys use that word!!!!!
i don’t think i’ll ever be able to watch these vids without a little giggling!!

  29. damn everytime you say WANK i cant help but think of….. the mountain.
well i know you guys have probably been to these places before (i also went there before) but i’d like you guys to go to the entertainment buildings!!! JYP, Cube, SME, YG… i didnt have much luck of seeing anyone when i went to those places but i hope you will! and it’ll be a good, easy start to complete your missions over there :P

  30. After you’ve established some WANKing reputation, Junsu’s papa’s pizza restaurant!!!!!

I heard you can go to idol restaurants and offer to wash their dishes for free! ;) I bet you can meet lots of interesting people this way.

btw, this is a brilliant segment idea, not just the name only. Can’t wait till the sponsorships for artsy expensive workshops (like latte-making and the clay scultures like in WGM) start rolling in!

  31. wow! you’re title sounds so wrong!!

  32. Lotte, probably because I’ve been there 2005, and according to my mom, in 1988 (when they came there the first time to adopt me), it was the complete opposite of what it was (2005), with shops for selling dogs at food…

I’m sorry Spudgy, shouldn’t have written that out loud!

  36. Should have named it Wonderful Adventures in Nifty Korea or something. You guys are officially treading the Engrish waters now… or was that on purpose? I see what you did there!

    Get well, Martina!
