Hiya!

Last week when we wrapped up our WTF video segment, we announced that we’d be starting a new segment this week. Today we’re announcing what we’re doing! Woot! As a not-so-footy foot note, we’d like to apologize that this isn’t our actual first video for it. Martina got really sick last week, so we couldn’t go out and be adventuresome. If you listen carefully to Martina in our recent Music Monday, you can hear her snotty stuffed up nose and sore throat. Poor girl! BUT DON’T WORRY! We had brought an emergency supply of medicine Lipton Chicken Noodle soup from Canada. You know: the envelopes filled with yellow noodles and neon yellow soup mix? And she ate that for 5 whole days. Now she’s almost all better due to tummy warming! Oh yeah, those of you coming to Korea to live, bring a comfort food for when you’re sick. (We also packed Jello for those barfy flu days.)

AHEM! The point here is not that Martina was barfy sick, but that we couldn’t go outside to film without Martina giving sad stink sick face to the camera, so today we’re announcing our (no longer) secret plans for our segment! DRUMROLLLLL PLEAASSSEEEEEELE: It’s Wonderful Adventure Now Korea aka W.A.N.K! We’ll be WANKing every Wednesday and we’re hoping to hit some places or do activities in Korea that YOU guise want!

After all, we live in Korea and there are so many things we can experience that other people can’t. We’re hoping to get a list of things to do, and it can be random, like visit a Korean stationary shop to something specific, like hang out at a Korean tea room. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments, on Facebook, or on Twitter!

Oh, and on top of our normal adventure, we decided to make it more exciting by having a check list we must complete.

1. We must both find a kpop idol (it will probably be a picture) to pose into front of during our adventures.

2. We will complete to see who can find the most creative Engrish. Once we choose it, we can’t take it back. You guise will vote on who picked the most creative use of Engrish!

Wet Spudgy & Punishment Die

Wet Spudgy & Punishment Die

3. And last, a random challenge will appear like a Pokemon trainer in the woods calling us to battle…but without the pokemon…and poke trainer…and probably no woods. Makes it sound sadder. I WANT A SNORLAX!!! *ahem* The loser of this challenge will have to roll our giant punishment die to receive their shaming. It’s a 1/5 chance to be shamed, and there is just one “you lucky duck” number that will let us just walk away. To the right here, you’ll see a picture of the giant punishment die, as well as our freshly washed Spudgy (fyi, he doesn’t like being showered)

So, that’s it for now…let the suggestions begin!!!! Oh, and the winners for our last WTF are announced in the bloopers! Please send us an email and we’ll send out your packages ASAP, just in time for after-Christmas!

Roadtrip to Pusan on the highway.

Check out the Formula one track next year.

Act out your favorite drama scene. Don’t have one or have a hard time picking one? How about the kiss scene of Hyun bin and Ha Ji won in the secret garden when ha ji won attempts to wipe off the moustache after having a cappucino at a local coffee shop.
Or the scene doing sit ups at a local gym. *GRIN*

  8. Go to home plus shop for ingredients for bibimbap (or a popular korean food/snack), prepare it and ask people around korea to try it and ask them to rate you. Considered self cam by the way?

you wanking all around corea… ahem. I mean, going on mountains and
that sort of stuff… Rigth!? Well, and my chosen place for you is
Ewha Womans University! I just watched a report about the university and
its special architecture, but it was all about the building (how
boring) and the whole time I was wondering what is students life like
there? Where’s the socialising, partying, wanking… taking place? ;) If you ever could go exploring that in my place I’d be the first one to watch your ivd for sure! Hugs ‘n sloppy kisses from Germany! ^.^

  16. You really are teachers, I didn’t know there was a mountain in my country called Wank xD
please do a lotte world wank ^.^

  17. I love the voice you give spudgy oh my god

  18. Anonymous

I already know from the sound of that title that there’s something wrong, and it’s not the hike u p the mountain. Too scared to look it up, need to retain some innocence. Anyways I like this idea.

  19. Please go to the zoo :) I feel you two would have a great time.

  20. korean music store

  21. XD the blooper reel is longer than the actual video

  22. LOL!! Can’t wait to see you guys wanking all over the place in Korea. I bet it will be a sight to see. Oh and Martina, I love Sean Paul too and you just happen to sing my favorite song of his – Sexy Punkie!! I cracked up laughing when I heard you sing it. I love the Spanish version instead of the English version, but yeah it doesn’t matter because either way I still can’t understand what he says be it English or Spanish. Hahaha!

  23. Really random, but SPUDGYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY IS SOOOOOOO FLUFFYYYYYYYY 8D

  24. Anonymous

Oh my gosh, I would die happy if you guys showed us SM Entertainment’s building where all the trainees train!!! (:

  25. Oh BTW your own Kpop video a la stephen colbert.
    Maybe fan meet videos.

  26. thatssumgoodcurry

I like how your guys’ blooper reel is longer than the actual video this week. I kinda like it. :)

  27. I LOVE THIS NEW VIDEO SERIES!!!! I support you guys wanking all over Korea. Show those Koreans how its done, North America style.

It would be awesome if you guys did a segment where you have to try different kinds of street foods.  That stuff always looks so sketchy but then is usually crazy good. (Hopefully you won’t have another experience like with that ddokboki ajumma and her flaming ddokboki from hell)

  28. omg! Lipton Chicken noodle soup!!! you’re making me want it so bad right now!! (also an expat, but in Japan…) and FYI… another thing to stuck up on is NyQuil!!! i dunno if medicine is as shit in korea as it is in Japan, but yeah…

but yeah, sounds cool!! i bet you were pissing yourself with giggles when you wrote “we’ll be wanking every wednesday”… eheh. you sillies :p i’m looking forward to your adventures!! i for one would like to see stuff about the este in korea… we here a lot about the “good, cheap este from korea” in Japan, so suggestions of places to go would be cool!

oh and speaking of which, since i’ve only found your blog about a month ago, i’ve been going through the archives, and was impressed when i found the post where Martina was discussing her BBcream… WELL, the other day, while shopping in Tokyo, i found an Etude House shop, and omg, everything in there was SO cheap!! i bought a BBcream (and shitloads more stuff) since i remembered the name from Martina’s post, and omg, i love it! and i cannot get over how cheap it was!! seriously! i’m paying around 40$ for MAC foundation here… and this is like 10$!! thank you thank you Martina for that lovely recommendation! <3

  29. Cecilia G

martina! please do a makeup tutorial! your makeup looks so especially pretty today!! :)

you guys should go to a noraebang! (is that right? the karaoke thingy?)

  30. I am really curious about the nightlife in Seoul… for instance nightclubs/bars :) What kind of music do they play and does it look similar to our nightclubs/bars in Canada?

  31. Concert with backstage passes.
Or even access to Kim Yuna’s ice shows. Those will be cool.

  32. i would like to see a random pokemon challenge outside YG building also it will be nice to see the inside of S7ven´s restaurant cause i have just seen pictures that celebrities takes with that  big chicken that it’s inside the store ….:)

  33. Simon’s haircut reminds me of Jay Parks. Can’t wait to see you guys wank.

  34. Anonymous

HAAZAAAAA!!!! Virtual tour of Korea ((:
do they have maid cafes in Korea?? if so, you should go! ^-^

  35. Larisa Hohenboken

I don’t know if it’s possible with your camera equipment, but could you guys show us some of the hiking spots in Korea? I’ve heard there are hikes all over the place, and an active hiking/fitness culture that spans generations. It would be cool to see that side of Korea and not just the pop culture hallyu stuff.

  36. You guys definitely have to check out the Boryeong Mud Festival @ Daecheon Beach in July. ITS SO AWESOME! And don’t bring your nice clothes.

  37. 이신비밀

i want to see cute places in seoul :D for example in playful kiss, when Baek Seung Jo and Oh Ha Ni went a date there was a park with giant bench ;) And i seriously want to know about universities because i am thinking of studying in korea with exchange program ^___^ i totally adore creative buildings since i study architecture so are there any university buildings in seoul like; ABC Faculty in Utrecht, Holland or California Academy of sciences? i bet there is a lot of pretty places in seoul pleaseeeeeee show us since we are not living in korea like you guys :S

btw you guys are ADORABLEEEEEEE <3<3<3

  38. Rachael Volk

Just wanting to say a huge fan of this new segment. Thanks so much for being a window for those us that can’t be over there (yet).

  39. Awesome idea!!
I have a request: I’m coming to Korea to study next year. And my home uni wants me to choose between Yonsei and Sungkyunkwan universities. I don’t know anything about either. Maybe you could help me and MANY other students in the same situation? Visit both and make some comparison? I don’t mean educational stuff, but where are they located in Seoul, what are they like, what they look like? What are the international houses like? What is the cafeteria like? Which has more international students? And so on… I think with your imagination you can figure out more things to compare. You guys are AWESOME!!

    • I studied at Yonsei last summer and loved it. It is tied with Korea National for 2nd place in the country. It’s located right next to the neighborhood of Sinchon which is a pretty cool place, one subway stop from Ewha and two from Hongdae. The international dorms are renovated/newly built and were very nice. Cafeterias were cheap but all in Korean, however pointing and learning basic Korean dishes works. We ate out in Sinchon almost every night, loads of places to eat out there for reasonable prices. Yonsei is a beautiful campus I think, lots of nature combined with newer modern buildings. As for Sungkyunkwan, I didn’t hear much about it so I can’t help you there!

    • Glen Lee

go to YonSei…everything is better. believe me i lived over 10 x? yrs in Seoul.

  40. How about going to some temple stay places?

  41. Carmela Tan

I love the new segment idea! Although, I think now that you took out WTF, you’re gonna find WTF’s wherever you go..
You’ll be like..”OH! OH! WTF! WTF!” and then be like.. “Oh right…” hahahhaa
I would looove to see all kinds of interesting Korean interior designs. :)) “Weird food” trips would also be awesome. Just like your old supermarket food videos :D I got excited when I saw that 7/11 here in the Philippines now sells “Milkis”. I was like “Omagooosh. Eatyourkimchi did a review on thaaat! I haaave to try it!!” I was kind of disappointed though.. It didn’t really taste like melted root beer float like you guys said. To me, it tasted like carbonated Yakult.
I mean, it was good, just not what I expected :D

Anyway, I’m looking forward to this new segment, and the how to dance kpop 2011. :))

  42. Kathleen Giblin

    bucheon comic/manga museum pleeeaaase~!
love the new segment idea :)

  43. Yay! So happy that you are going around Korea. I really want to see it before I go. I would like for you guys to go to Yonsei University because I am suppose to go there for the summer next year and would like to know what it looks like. Thanks!

  44. Cinnamon-Gyepi

I am so glad your are doing this. I really would love to see Korea, the people and the culture. Festivals, museums, just regular people…I love to people watch. And while your out and about if you could show us some places that dramas where filmed. On my places to go is the coffee shop from Coffee Prince. If you happen to go to these places and pick up a souviner, I would be willing to buy or participate in an auction.  Here is a website, click on the drama, scroll down and it gives all the filiming locations, really detailed. http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/CU/CU_EN_8_5_1.jsp?sets=&gotoPage=1

  45. Buy ‘Sunny 10′ and drink it ! :D ;P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imtdgj3GUK4

  49. I like the idea for this new segment. It’s somewhat like Running Man. I heard Yesung (from Super Junior) opened a new cafe. Or how about his first shop in Hongdae? Oh! Or you could do Lotte World or some museums or the Seoul Tower with the locks!

  50. Anonymous

I am very interested in Seoul theatre culture! I saw some pictures from an area (which I think is located on the tae-hak rd. ?) with at LEAST 20-30 small and medium theatres, just like Broadway and off-Broadway. Very impressive. I think it will definitely be a good point to introduce the artsy side of Seoul. Would you please do a video about it?

  51. Martina, Ur bunny ear should be UP like a V shape….  not floppy .. D:

  52. Try haunted houses at amusement parks in Korea! I heard they are different from those in Canada ;P

  53. fuuko99

In all seriousness though. How do you expect me to show my family your new segment with a name like that? Here’s to hoping they don’t know what it means, (like with WTF), but ‘wanker’ is fairly common in all commonwealth nations, including Australia. Haaaaah

  54. Hi guys. Ummm….I’m not sure if you did this on purpose. But ‘wank’ in England is a euphemism for masturbation. Which makes sentences like, “We’ll be WANKing every Wednesday” reeeeeeally awkward (and hilarious). It’s also slang for something that’s rubbish/terrible. E.g. “What did you think of that movie?” “I think it’s wank.” Anyways…just thought I’d let you know so that you’ll understand the sniggers that may come from British viewers. Love your channel! Keep it up! x

  55. Could you guys investigate the University of Incheon? My uni has an exchange program there and I’m deciding if I’d like to go for a semester or not. thanks ^_^

  56. YG Family 15th Anniversary exhibition! And get some kisses!
    Info: http://youtu.be/OyqibV56qwk
Or was the concert enough YG for a while? xD Just a thought.

    Hope you feel better Martina!
And I love your little tree and its seizure-inducing blink attacks!

  57. So I don’t know if this is actually a suggestion since you are already going to post one of you shopping, and you used a stationery shop as a suggestion example…but anyway, I want to see awesome shops that sell cute things. Like stores full of WTFs. I don’t know how they feel about filming in the stores there, but it would be awesome to see you shopping for nifty things and pointing out all the awesomeness.

  58. michelle gosse

It would be cool if you guys did a video on your favorite places, or the one place you need to go to when in Korea :)

  76. I think for your first adventures you guys should visit the wax museum. Now idk if it’s in Seoul or not but I’ve seen many idols go there. Also it would be nice if you could show us how to get there :D

I want to see the outside of the university mainly and some outlying shops and cafes.
I think your task should be to find a student studying English or who knows English and try to convince them that the Canadian House hippo is in fact real!!
Person who does this in the least amount of time wins the challenge!

    You guys should go to:
    - Music (K-pop) stores to see K-pop CDs sold in mass :D since we don’t have any Kpop CD store in Canada
    - Noraebang (Karaoke) and u guys should totally sing a k-pop song for us (like they do in dramas :P)
    - and Maybe K-pop idol’s restaurant like Se7en’s chicken restaurant or something

    • Anonymous

There are a few really good k-pop stores here in Canada especially in T.O and B.C you just have to be patient in looking for them and creative in you Google searches…  :)

      • Anonymous

And last but not least. Go to YG Building. NOW.

  98. GO TO NAMSAN TOWER!! (and like the mountain and everything) there’re no idol pictures there, but I do know that some groups have left a lock of theirs there!! SHINee has one there I think hehe, I always wanted to see how Namsan tower looks like when it’s not in dramas and stuff hehe

  101. Sannah Khan

This is exciting! Are you going to film yourselves actually going shopping? Or are you just gonna film the conclusion of it all in your apartment? I really hope you’ll be filming outside. And of course, convene in your apartment. It would be much cooler!

  102. JinDo Mann

    Please go to Coex =DDDD

After you’ve established some WANKing reputation, Junsu’s papa’s pizza restaurant!!!!!

I heard you can go to idol restaurants and offer to wash their dishes for free! ;) I bet you can meet lots of interesting people this way.

btw, this is a brilliant segment idea, not just the name only. Can’t wait till the sponsorships for artsy expensive workshops (like latte-making and the clay scultures like in WGM) start rolling in!

  104. You guys crack me up. I hope you have fun going to lots of different places! :)

  106. Lotte, probably because I’ve been there 2005, and according to my mom, in 1988 (when they came there the first time to adopt me), it was the complete opposite of what it was (2005), with shops for selling dogs at food…

I’m sorry Spudgy, shouldn’t have written that out loud!

  107. you should go to namsan tower where khuntoria couple went the first day they got married!

  114. Can’t wait for your adventures! Go to Hello Kitty’s Cafe. Hehehe. OHHHH! Go to Se7en’s resto and hope you will bump into him or Big Bang. Hehehe. I hope Martina wins in the Engrish contest. (Sorry Simon =.= ) I will stay tune everyday! Hahaha.

By the way looked for “wank” and here’s a link. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/wank and now every time I here Simon say wank. That what goes through my mind. HAHAHA.

  115. Hahahaha this is quite possibly the best-titled segment ever, and I thought nothing could beat WTF…

(As a British fan this is particularly amusing. That awkward moment when certain nationalities don’t know the other, other meaning of the word ‘wank’… kekekeke.)

  116. There’s a hello kitty cafe! Hehehe. OOHH! Se7en’s resto. Hope you could bump into him! I hope Martina wins in the Engrish Contest. (Sorry Simon =.= ) I can’t wait for your adventures! I will surely stay tune everyday. Hahaha.

This sounds awesome! You should really go to SE7EN’s restaurant, or to 1TYM’s BaekKyoung’s restaurant, I’m sure you’ll run into them, people say they are always there! (YG fan, here!)

    Get well, Martina!

  122. YEY! It’s here! I’m excited! Hehehe. I always wait for your update! When I saw you uploaded it on youtube. I opened the bloopers vid 6 times. Hahaha. Too much excitement.
