What We Love About Each Other

It’s time for some lovey dovey stuff. Why? BECAUSE IT’S ALWAYS TIME FOR LOVEY DOVEY STUFF! Hey you! Yes you! Right now: if you’re reading this, if there’s someone important in your life, tell them something you appreciate about them. It’s so much easier to complain than it is to praise, but it sometimes takes courage to open yourself up to someone and say what you like about them. And don’t do it because you’re waiting for reciprocation; do it because you want to see someone happy, because one of the greatest pleasures in life is giving pleasure.

We constantly focus on how we can make life better for each other. Martina mentioned that I don’t complain when I do lots of stuff if she’s having a day that she can’t get out of bed. And why would I complain? If I can bring her a cup of coffee that she likes, and if I can see her take a sip of it and smile, that makes me happy, more happy than I’d be if I just browsed Imgur or played my DS.

So, that’s it. Let people around you know what you like about them. Tell your teacher that they’ve inspired you to write more. Tell your mom how her cooking has been such a big part of your life and how you wish you could be a kid again trying her stew for the first time. Tell your coworker you can see that they’ve been busting ass and you admire that in them. And tell your significant other that you appreciate the effort they put into your relationship. Then tell your cat to stop meowing GODDAMMIT MEEMERS WHY ARE YOU CATERWAULING AT 1:22 AT NIGHT?!?! I’m gonna go play the bongos on his tummy flab. See you next time.

  2. Simon’s first point about Martina is so true. I remember being inexplicably terrified of meeting you guys at the Chicago Meet Your Kimchi event, but Martina gave me a huge hug and instantly started a conversation with me and I almost cried I couldn’t understand how she could be so nice to someone who had almost nothing to say after she had already been standing and greeting people for hours (seriously Martina, the strength you put forth to overcome your own pain to give back to us fans humbles me). I’m truly glad you guys have each other and look forward to seeing where the future leads you and the rest of your crew :-]

  3. I envy your relationship so much. You’re always so cute together in every video you do together. The relationship you two have together is what I want to have.

  4. Meg

I only threw up once and only a lil bit! ;) lol But yea pretty much you two are my relationship goal! I’m not big into the thought of marriage and commitment (ohhhh issues, don’t we all have those lol) but you guys make me think ‘oh, you know it might be ok..’ but then i go and see another couple and think “NOPE” lol.

  5. You guys are awesome. One of the things that I’ve always loved about the two of you is your relationship with each other.

I’m not a hermit. I like to go out and do things, but I don’t like people in my personal space. I NEED peace and quiet and alone time. I actually don’t like the fact that people know where I live because they may come and visit me. LOL!

    Seriously though.

This being the case, I am committed to being single. It is just what works for me. That being said, I would LOVE a relationship like the two of you have. Only a relationship as awesome as yours could get me to give up my solitude.

I like that you made this video without there being a special reason for it. I, myself, am working on something for my daughter. She is 6 and while she knows that I love her, sometimes I don’t think she knows how special I think she is. So, I am going to paint on separate smallish canvases the things about her that I think are special. Then, I’ll hang them in her room and she’ll always have a reminder.

  8. I would love to tell you guys the things I love about you !
Ever since I saw the very first video, your website has been a daily used bookmark. Always checking for new content. Both of you always show me how live can be. I didn’t use to believe that I would ever get to travel the world like you guys could. The dream seamed too far away and quit frankly scary. I loved reading and watching other cultures. But because of you it became something that jumped out of the books and tv shows into my real life. You always try new stuff and just do the things you believe is right, like quitting Music Mondays and including videos from all around the world. You always seem like nice and positive people with a inspirational and fairy tale like message … (for lack of a better word) Even though life trows very very rotten tomatoes at you, you have to keep going and make the best out of yourself. Something I will always keep working at. Thank you for broadening my view of the possibility’s out there :)

  10. That’s why I love you guys – you live every day like it’s your last and never take anything, including each other, for granted ❤️

  12. Wow, I just posted a gag worthy gratitude post to my fiancé on Facebook and this popped up right after. It must be vomit inducing sugar snuggles day. :P I remember years ago when you first started posting videos how I felt you two had something very special. You have not only love but a great amount of respect and regard for each other and you always show that, even if it isn’t verbal. That is a rare thing to find and I am happy you found it in each other and don’t ever forget to work for what means most, your relationship with each other.

I used to wish for that constantly. To find my “Simon” and thankfully after a long ass time I did. He too is always ready for a new adventure and to learn something new. He cares for me on days I am stuck in bed and never makes me feel like a burden or feel guilty, which to me is amazing because that is hard not to feel about myself and he is the one having to pick up all the slack. When I have shitty days, he always can make them better. It never fails. He is like the smile ninja, like today, my grandmother shows up at our house on a war path, the plumber tells us the house is too wet from the rain so still no gas (teehee) in the house for the foreseeable future, and all sorts of other stuff and I am overwhelmed. Dick sneaks me a surprise stuffed animal in the bed, he had picked it up at the store because he knew I needed a smile. Smile ninja.

We all have lights in our life that help keep away the dark, we just have to remember to see it and acknowledge it, and most importantly, be it for others. If you want a smile, give a smile. It works wonders. <3

  13. Yayy It seems I’m the first comment!!! Yes, I got to the end of the video without puking; instead I was laughing/crying heehehe!! It was a really beautiful and warm video. Martina, I don’t think Simon is Bias, you really are that way he says. I’ve been watching your videos and blog post for a few years now, and you can transmit many things through the work you made. The same happens with Simon, he’s very witty and stylish hahahaha!! You both have been an incredible influence in my life, and I’m so happy that you decided to create all of this and share it to the world, because I’m really grateful to have found you. A lot of love and hugs from this side of the world, to both of you Meemers and Spudgy.

P.S. Come and visit Venezuela someday!!! You’ll taste incredible food!!! Haahhahaa!!! :D
