WTF – Diet Shoes

Hello everyone! We hope you had a happy holidays recently. We haven’t been posting our regular schedule of videos over the holiday season, but we did film this WTF video beforehand, so we’re able to post it up today. Woohoo!

Anyhow, on to the product, which Martina is now using regularly around the studio. Not for diet purposes, of course, but now it’s her replacement for her pig stool she used to stand on so that she could be my height in videos. She needs to stand on something or else she doesn’t fit in the frame of the camera, sadly. Yes, our height difference is that big, but you couldn’t tell from most videos. I used to do the splits to stand beside her, but standing like that for 20-30 minutes wrecked my ankles. And now, thanks to these Adidas Ripoff Diet Shoes, we don’t need the splits or the stool anymore. Hooray!

I fail to see how these shoes are diet shoes, though. How are they supposed to help you lose weight? They require a bit of balancing, I suppose, and so that burns more calories, I guess, but is that it? Is there something else to them that makes them diet shoes? I checked out the page on Gmarket and there’s lots of sciencey stuff on there, but from the video they posted I’m under the assumption that it makes doing cardio easier for you. But that’s not a diet helper, right? It’s a diet stopper, because you work less, right?

Either way, they’re fun and they’re cheap for shoes. I’m not sure you’d want to walk around the streets in them, but they’re good for a laugh :D

  1. I went to G-Market because I wanted these due to the fact that they’re basically adult moon-shoes. However they can’t be shipped internationally :( Only people in Korea can buy them! T-T

  3. OMG, want!!! These would be great to go clubbing in (especially to d&b, since all you do is jump anyway) and they still look much safer than some 5-6″ stiletto heels some girls bust out. Bahaha!

  6. Ok watching this and staring at Simon’s beanie thinking “I AM BATMAN ! ! !” Though I know they kind of remind me of those rocking chair style shoes my mom got one Christmas that were supposed to help you lose more calories when you walked or something. I know they were more expensive then I would have spent on any pair of shoes.

  7. I figured it out! This is totally supposed to be used with the jump rope wand! See before you guys said it was awkward Cuz there is no clack clack but these shoes will make you forget about that so you jump more! Genius!

  8. I guess that the “diet” theory behind these shoes is the same as the mini-trampoline, as long as you are bouncing, technically, all of your muscles are moving, therefore, they are all getting exercise. Kind of wiggly logic at play but lots of people swear by those mini-trampolines as well. Maybe the fun makes you exercise more – certainly I can see Martina bouncing around more rather than simply walking from room to room in the studio.

Fun little video. Hope you guise are feeling better and having a nice holiday.

  9. Wonder what’s a bigger gimic. This, or those Sketchers shoes that claimed that you can lose weight and tone your ass with them?

Also, I have no clue about the spelling of gimic…

  10. What in the heck. I wonder how they came up with these lol. They look like they should be from the 80s and they remind me of those shoes you had to pump up.

    • Funny you say that, because I’ve got a pretty badly busted ankle at the moment. Not from the shoes, mind you. Just from walking :)

  15. FINALLY! A shoe more hideous and ridiculous than Skechers Shape Ups. Though I would wear them to the office strictly for comedy value.

  20. Wauw, these shoes are so… so… “interesting”
Just for reference sake, did you see how high Martina jumps without these shoes on? I don’t think they make you jump much higher. But I might be wrong :)

  23. Hahaha, WHAT! I loled pretty loud when I saw the shoes. What, wait, what are people thinking? I Know of some shoes that have their end shaped like a boat, to help with back problems and also to work out your bum a bit, but with springs? No.
Hey, at least they are fun! Usually diet is never fun, even if they might work. Bounce, bounce with me!
