This is a weird week for us. We filmed this episode a day before flying out to Canada. We’re in Canada now! Awwww yeah! And we’re so jet lagged. So, my apologies for this episode being later than usual. I thought we could finish this episode in time, but between surprising our families and trying to stay awake, we’re just a bit late.
But we’re in Canada now! It’s so odd being here now, especially after living in Japan for a while now. Oh man. The culture reverse culture shock is strong this time around. After living in Korea for 8 years and jumping back and forth to Canada, we knew what to expect when coming back. But now, being back in Canada with the perspective of people who have been living in Japan as opposed to people who have been living in Korea is suprising. We’re really enjoying it!
As for our schedule, we’re working on putting together the video of us surprising our families right now as well. We’ve got some more things we need to do in Canada in between, so I’m not sure if we’ll get it up in time for this week. We also fly out to Las Vegas to see our friends on Wednesday, and then we’ll be with them for a week. They’re the same friends whose wedding we went to in Punta Cana a while ago, if you remember that post. Then we should be heading back to Japan after that.
Soooo, we won’t have a full Eatyoursushi episode for a while, but we have something fun, I think, planned in the interim. And we’ve got some videos we’re working on editing as well, which I hope we’ll have enough time to put together. Damn, I sometimes really envy people who can edit quickly. People who post daily vlogs amaze me. WE’RE SO SLOW!
Once we’re back in Japan, we’ll be able to figure out how our neighbour is doing. You know, we don’t have his email or number. We just speak to each other on the street. We knock on each other’s doors and just talk that way. It’s a very different feeling, but it’s one that I really like. Reminds me of what it was like being a kid again, on the weekend when you’d wake up early and take the bike over to your friend’s house and ring the doorbell. It’s so refreshing!
Side note: I don’t usually do this in Eatyoursushi blog posts, but I’m losing my mind over an album. I haven’t loved an album this much since D’angelo’s Black Messiah. Frank Ocean’s “Blonde” is so agressively gorgeous, and I’ve been playing it incessantly and Martina hates it and I can’t play it around her anymore but now that I’m writing this blog post with headphones on I can listen to it to my heart’s content. Guise: this album is so good. Might not be your cup of tea, but holy shitsnacks, I love it. The first three tracks are perfect. Ok I’ll stop now. I’m glad I can get that off my chest.
If you’re looking for Magical Mail Time, we’ve got it right here below. I wasn’t listening to Frank Ocean at the time. Instead, we were playing Rick and Morty’s “Get Schwifty” on loop, so you’ll hear a lot of that referred to throughout the episode :D
