Ok this is great. I’m writing this blog post in a house after a day of filming in Oshima Island, and now the host is telling stories about music videos he worked on, and we’re looking at kitties as they run around his backyard. He won’t let the kitties in. OK I JUST CAME BACK INSIDE AFTER PETTING THE KITTIES THIS IS THE BEST TRIP EVER. Wow. I really miss my animals. I got all choked up when I pet the kitty in the video. Spudgy and Meemers are gonna be with us in less than a month. Ah, we miss them something fierce!
This week was quite a busy week. We had our friends from Kobe come visit for the week. You might remember one of them from our What is Kobe Beef video ages ago. Well, now that we live in Japan they came to visit us in Tokyo, and we showed them around a bit, and played a bunch of board games. Yes, board games. We’re nerdy like that. We played Pandemic, Dominion, Sushi Go, Forgotten Island, and more. We also built our first gaming PC, finally! I’ve converted to PC Master Race. We’ll be posting a video of that as soon as we can. Whoa, was that ever a story to tell! We would have published the video about it sooner, but with friends over, and with us prepping for our trip over to Oshima Island, we didn’t have enough time. Next week, I hope!
One story we didn’t tell: you saw the gift we got from signing up for a credit card? Well, right before getting that gift I learned something special about Katakana. See, I filled out the form for the credit card on a tablet computer, and I had to write out my name in Katakana, which I totally can do with a pen, no problem. The computer, however, couldn’t understand what I was writing, even though the lady with the computer fully understood what I was writing. Every character I wrote the computer would rewrite into a Kanji character. Why? Because STROKE ORDER, that’s why. I would write the character in a way that’s totally legible, but the computer registers the direction in which you write something, and I would write the characters in the wrong directions. I had to be shown how to write the characters in the right order for the computer to register what I was writing. Interesting, eh? Another interesting tidbit: I was asked to check off a tab on the computer that states that I’m not part of the Yakuza. Bizarre how they made a tab for that. And if I was Yakuza, would I even admit it? Do Yakuza regularly admit that when signing up for credit cards? I’m confused.
Also, you might be confused by the sneak peak clip we included in this video. It’ll all make sense soon. It’s a pretty big project we’ve been planning for a while now. I hope you like the video when it’s finally ready to publish. We’re putting on the final touches but it’s almost ready to share. Yay!
So that’s it for now! We’re off to film another day in Oshima. Have a great day everyone!
