Since this is the week that we’re publishing our Germany related videos from our Ooh Euro Nasty Tour, I thought we’d share this small Open the Happy video, which didn’t really have a place anywhere in our other videos, but was just so freaking cool that I had to share it, somehow!
We were in Cologne that day. Wait: we were in Cologne every day of our stay in Germany. We didn’t really go anywhere else. Cologne was awesome. But, during the filming of this, we were in DOWNTOWN Cologne, where they had lots of fancy pants shopping. They had a Scotch and Soda shop nearby, which – if you can’t tell – 90% of my outfits have some Scotch & Soda in them. I like the suspenders :D
Anyhow, we were all at a nice restaurant off a side street in the area. I don’t remember what it was called or what it served. I remember it all being delicious, though! Damned delicious. It wasn’t really heavy like all of the other food we had in Germany. Not that heavy food is bad. Heavy food is great! I’m just sure that the majority of the weight we put on was from our time in Germany. THE POINT IS: I went to the bathroom in the restaurant, and after I flushed the toilet I jumped back because the seat scared me. Then I figured out what it was doing, so I flushed it again to show you all what it’s like. Because sharing is caring!

Speaking about technology, Simon you should check out this furniture from this video. It will probably amaze you as I was amazed! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152511554250267&fref=nf

Actually, these are not that common. You have that in some Rest stops (there is a sign with ‘sanifair’). I’ve never seen that anywhere else in Germany and I’ve been traveling a lot in my country xD

Ah. I see then. I haven’t used that many toilets in Germany, so when I saw this I thought it was common :D

I wish they would implement this everywhere. It’s ridiculous how disgusting some public toilets are. Especially when there’s a toilet lady that wants money when she clearly hasn’t done any cleaning in years.

Chicago Ohare airport has a toilet that is covered in plastic on the seat and revolves to replace or clean it when you swipe the motion detector as it flushes, like the cloth roll towel dispenser.

I have never seen a toilet like that. Should be mandatory in public lavs.

The best pooper I have ever experienced was in Japan. A heated seat and a built in bidet that washed you before you got up. Amazingly magical toilet experience.
The worst pooper I have ever experienced was also in Japan. Hole in the ground squat toilets are scary.

Our toilet at home does that as well :)

And by “that” I was referring to the magical toilet, not the awful poop hole…

WHY OH WHY CAN’T WE HAVE NICE TOILETS IN NORTH AMERICA??!?! Automatic seat warmers and showers in Asia. Self cleaning toilets in Germany. IT’S NOT FAIR!!!

Now that is something all women’s restrooms should have. Bring this magic toilet tech to the US please!

Oh you guys haven’t seen the Flachspühler some people still have at home. There are 2 kinds of toilets in Germany. One is called Flachspühler (flat flusher) and the other one is Tiefspühler (deep flusher). The Tiefspühler is like what you’d expect (hole in the middle, you poop in the hole) but with the Flachspühler, you actually poop on a flat surface and then the water has to push your poop down a hole. It’s impossible to poop straight into the hole. I’ve got to say I’ve got no idea why we have those but now that I have a Tiefspühler and not a Flachspühler anymore, the Tiefspühler certainly gets clogged more easily. I didn’t change my diet at all (nothing crazy anyway) but even toilet paper awkwardly stacked on one site of the bowl can clog my toilet now. I never had a clogged toilet in my life before. I mean, the Tiefspühler doesn’t clog either but it just fills up until the pressure of the water in the bowl is high enough to push the stuff through the plumbing. I think we’ve got the Tiefspühler because doctors suggested that those make it easier to check for any indication that something is wrong with your stomach or intestines and it’s easier to take a poop sample for your doctor if you actually have something wrong with your stomach.
They smell like shit though (heh pun intended). Since your poop is not covered in water, it just makes the whole room much more stinky. Never had that with a Tiefspühler (again, normal diet!).
And I don’t know why I ranted on about German toilets… Anyway, public toilets: German Engineering(TM); private toilets: “How about you shit in that little plate so you can have a look at it before you flush it!”

I was expecting the video of that American priest telling people that Germans are the devil because we German man are slaves to our wives and mothers forcing us to sit down whilst peeing.

german engineering toilets should be everywhere in public… +sigh+

Ups. Ja das sollte Flachspüler sein. Und ich hab immer spühler geschrieben >.<
Flachspüler are the ones that are easier for poop samples but there's no way to edit comments… sorry about that…

That’s really cool! I wish the bathrooms in the US where like that. I also saw a self-cleaning toilet when I was studying abroad in Italy over the summer, but it just lifted up and did a spray thing, not this fancy rotating business, haha
