Ok, story time!
We heard about the release of the Giga Big Mac, which is 2.8 times the size of a regular Big Mac, and which is supposedly difficult to finish. Challenge accepted! Now, just to find one of them. So we head over to the same McDonalds where we shot our McDonald’s Chocolate Fries video and ordered two. “Mega Mac?” she says. No, Giga Mac! “Ok! Mega Mac!” she says, and gives us two Mega Macs. I thought, hey, maybe they have different names for the Giga Big Mac. Giga, Mega, Ultra, Super: all of these words are interchangeable and just mean “big,” so why not? We set up our tripod, mics, and camera, and hoover the Mega Mac on camera like it’s nobody’s business.
But I had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn’t a Giga Big Mac. I know we have big hands, but I expected it to be bigger in our hands. So I looked up pictures of the Giga Mac, and, lo and behold, we were wrong. We wasted…so many calories…for no reason. Balls! That’s ok. We decided to film it another day. So we brought Dan with us to Shibuya after filming Eat Your Sushi, and we went to the McDonalds and, what do you know: it’s sold out. Double Balls! It’s ok. We’d try again later. We went to a different McDonalds in Kichijoji the day after, and it’s sold out again! Dammit! I swear, when stuff is limited edition in Japan, they’re not joking!
Anyhow, we didn’t even plan on filming this video. We were on our bikes to film another food video when we drove past a new McDonalds. They had signs for the Giga Big Mac, so we decided just to ask. And the rest we share in this video. But whoa was it a journey to try to film it!
I will say, though: we probably shouldn’t have eaten this whole thing. Our stomachs…did not feel great afterwards. A bit too much food for one sitting, I’d say. But we did it! And then we had Hokkaido Milk Pies for dessert! If you want to see what they’re like, click on the video below!
