Tada! Here’s our new apartment! Allow us to tell you a bit more about the place, and to share with you our new home!
Let me just say how happy we are to have found this place. We were really quite worried. Leigh and Soo Zee told us that the place we were living in before was at quite a bargain, and we wouldn’t be able to find anything as nice at the same price. So, the first few places that we saw were…terrible. Old, mouldy, dark. We saw a few on our first day of apartment hunting, and it went terribly. Then Leigh recommended we look in a different area, just a bit further away from where we were originally looking, in the World Cup Stadium Area. And, holy smokes, thank you Leigh for the save!
We saw a few apartments that day, all of which were awesome, one of which was almost identical to our previous apartment. Seriously: the layout was identical. But then we saw this place and went for it instantly. The layout makes a lot more sense. For our old apartment, when you walked in through the front door, you could go to the left for the extra bedrooms, or the right for the living room and our bedroom. We always went to the right, because we didn’t have any reason to go to the left. Pretty much, we didn’t use half of our apartment. With this layout, though, all of the rooms are together. It feels a lot more open, and it feels a lot more…homely. The lighting is nicer. The area is quieter. Our last apartment was right on top of a subway, so we couldn’t keep the window open while watching TV, because all we heard was the subway. Not anymore! Now all we hear is Kdramas being filmed. Woohoo!
Anyhow, we’ve got this place until December 2015, which is when our contract is up again. Hopefully we won’t have our landlord up our rent too much next time around. We’ll see. If you want to know more about the moving process, we also just did a TL;DR on it as well. Check that out, too. The blog post has more stories :D
We also have a few pictures of our place, but I’m not sure how to take nice apartment pictures. It’s a lot more challenging than outdoor pictures, or people pictures. Errr. So, here they are. Most of them are of Spudgy and Meemers, because they make the pictures better:

your new apartment is totally fab! i’m so amazed at how big the apartments are there (judging by your new and previous apartments) – I always assumed because it is such a packed city, that the homes would be really small. it looks like they are pretty damn huge, actually! here in london where i live right now, i already pay an INSANE amount of money to rent a one-bedroom, and i imagine that if i want to stay in this city i will basically never live in anywhere bigger, ever. maybe seoul is the answer??
also – i’m always so amazed by how much STUFF you guys have. so many pairs of shoes! so many little decorations! so much clothes and make-up!! it totally boggles the mind! it must be a cultural korean thing, right? i’m really fascinated by it.
i’m curious to hear from other people what their take is on this – and what it’s like in your country? personally all of my earthly possessions are just a fraction of what i see here! i just can’t afford to shop so much and i also can’t imagine having to deal with so much stuff! x

I was pretty amazed at how much stuff they have too! Personally, I feel cluttered if I have too many trinkets and small decorations sitting out, even if they’re organized. And – like you – I don’t have a lot of spare cash to work with!

Hi Simon and Martina! I think I’ve been living under a rock and only heard of EatYourKimchi a couple of days ago. TT___TT Now I spend most nights doing eyk marathons til the wee hours (the husband is *not* amused). Among all the things I love about eyk, I love you guys’ dynamic as a couple the most. You remind me so much of me and my husband :3 Congratulations moving in your new apartment!

Martina, do you use eyeshadow which is just plain color and not the twinkle kind (sorry I don’t know the proper term). I’m buying dark brown eyeshadow. Can you recommend some brands?

I am one lucky kitty – two Meemers Oppa videos in one week? My purr is out of control here. My Meemers Oppa, I am loving the view of you loving the view, with the sun glinting on your soft coat, as you lie back luxuriously on that Cado cat scratcher (I have the house version – I am a bit ‘ample’ to fit in it though. Ahem).
And as I suspected, beneath that ‘cool cat’ exterior lies a heart as soft and fluffy as your fur – you are so gracious towards your humans! And those love nibbles? Yes, I believe I wouldn’t mind some of those. Oh, I definitely wouldn’t mind some of those. Actually, I might just watch that bit again…

I have another Meemers video I want to put up. I hope to be able to upload it this week :D

I’ve noticed that the apartments that you’ve shown are all pretty similar. It’s fun to see what appliances it came with though, because they always seem to be different. I saw the stove/grill/dishwasher and thought to myself “Why hasn’t North America thought of this yet?. I want a fridge/toaster/washing machine or a dryer/microwave/coffee machine!”
Anyhoodles, I really do enjoy the tours. I like seeing how you guys decorate it each time, and I like how some things in the house are familiar but in different spaces, while some things I’ve never seen before.

That looks like an awesome apartment! Out of curiosity, about how much is the rent, if you don’t mind my asking? I’m moving over there soon and am looking at rents costs. Your apartment looks just about perfect!

I don’t know how to tell you this Martina and maybe you already know but…. they’re killing Wolverine in October. Though this really isn’t all that shocking given that in comics everyone and their mother dies at some point, so he’ll most definitely be coming back at some point. I think the only character in Marvel to die and stay dead is Uncle Ben but don’t quote me on that!
Anyway, when I saw all your Wolverine pictures, I wondered if you had heard yet :)
I love the apartment and it makes me super jealous! I need to move there right now. If only so I can let people in while I’m pooping. Its a big problem I have, just locking people out while doing my business ;)

Didn’t Gwen Stacy stay dead? I’m not too sure. Death is the single biggest problem for comics. Well, that and the astronomical price. I remember when they were 25cents!

Yeah, we’re not too concerned though. As you said, no one stays dead in Marvel. We’re something like two years behind in the comics anyways so by the time we catch up he’ll probably be back to life :)

…..no oven? or do you use the grill to get it done?… iiiii don’t know >__<

There’s no oven in this one. Martina’s really sad about it. We got lucky with our last one, but it’s really uncommon to have ovens in Korea :(

Can you get a microwave oven?

ooou I can’t imagine that D :
I think most everyone is taken back by the oven situation. At least the sink still has the foot button thing. Anyways, I forgot to mention how lovely your new place is! Definitely more cozy : D

I need to show my sister the clip with your grill. She use to tease me about the oven in my last apartment. It was tiny and she joked I couldn’t fit a Cornish game hen in it, which I could, but yours! Wow. Can you even fit a “chicken chest” in it?
Love the new apartment! It looks so homey and cozy. The pets look very happy as well. Even the view seems to suit you two even more than your last one. Hope you get to stay there a long time ^_^ Also, yeah LEIGH!

I can not get over your mini dishwasher/gas grill/stove top! Here in the US appliances are big and take up space. Do you run the dishwasher several times to wash your dinner dishes?

Awwwww, Now I miss my own kitty :'( Even if she’s the female version of spudgy, and makes it snow hairs everytime you pet her, she’s the best :)
Anyway, love how the new place looks, all the little decorations must have taken ages to place…

Who even watches MTV anymore – other than when you’re suffering from insomnia and surfing channels? OMG on the water filter ad – so funny. I’m sending it around the office now. You could do a whole TL:DR on 2PM’s various ads. So much for useful work today.
I’m totally with Simon on the Christmas lights. How do you keep them clean?

I have the same problem with opening packages, Martina, haha. It’s like somehow my hands will not work and either I break the package, sending stuff flying everywhere or I have to grab some scissors. *sigh* This apartment looks really nice. It does seem more homey and more your style. Kind of reminds me of the apartment in Bucheon. :)

It looks really nice! ^^ I just moved again too but I share an apartment with two strangers so I only got to decorate my own room… Though I’m still not finished yet. The Korean apartments look so modern! I mean with the door bell camera and the heater etc. system! :o I believe it will take ages to get those to Finland. I don’t think even modern apartments have them… not sure since I’m not enough rich to live in one. haha
Also, gotta remember that blue scooter! XD Reminds me of how I stayed in Hongdae area and they were filming a drama near my hostel! We just walked past a scene one night and were veeery surprised. I think it was “Melody of Love”…

Such a wonderful and nice movie, it makes me all happy and jealous at the same time. The place is awesome! I really like it! I’m happy you are getting settled in, then it will feel even better to get home in the evenings to relax.
And by the way, my boyfriend is joining me at Omona in Oslo, because he wants to see you guys as well (I didn’t think he would want to!), and he also wants to se me fangirl over my two idols ^^

Can I move in with you guys? Maybe not physically, but spiritually? I promise not to haunt you. :D OH TL;DR IDEA! What are the views on things like Ghosts/Aliens in South Korea? My Dad believes in aliens and not ghosts and I believe in ghosts and the POSSIBILITY of aliens… and we have SO MANY ghost hunting and alien shows in North America (I love it!). Is there a big belief/stories/etc. about things like that in South Korea? :O

OH! We’ve wanted to do a ghost TL;DR for a while now. We actually started doing a bit of research on it. Hopefully we’ll get that one up soon!

If they is a chance coming up. Could you do a TLDR on South Korea’s Preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Peyongchang? It would be great to know things like the stadiums and arenas are going to be like, special events leading up to the games and what our follow nasties should know if were looking to attend the games in person. Things like booking hotels way in advance (How Long should it be). Places to see in Peyongchang and what the city is like and what other places throughout Korea are doing to prepare and celebrate the Olympics coming to South Korea.
Also, do you know if your going to do anything with the Peyongchang Olympic Committee?

YAY! That would be so cool! It’s like a huge thing here (has been for a couple years now). And hey, Halloween is coming, so that would make a wicked awesome spooky TL;DR for the Halloween season. :D Can’t wait! <3
