Ok, we’re far too excited to do these kits. Holy smokes! Even if they don’t taste the best (actually, they don’t taste good at all) it’s still loads of fun making stuff. WE LOVE MAKING STUFF. OH MAN! I just thought of an idea: people love Legos because you can make stuff out of Legos. People love Popin Cookin kits because you can eat what you make. What if they made edible legos, so that you can just stack together your meal? THAT’D BE SO COOL! Except, it can’t be that all of the Legos are the same hard brick texture, because that would be boring. You’d need soft Legos, hard Legos, and everything in between. Different textures and flavors, and you can build your own snack. I think I just stumbled on a billion dollar industry, guise. You heard it here first. If you need more billion dollar ideas, I’ve got them, including a “clean your bowl with bread” restaurant :D

Anyhow, if you remember what our first Popin Cookin video was like, then you might notice a difference between our approach in this one: we’re a lot more cautious. The water measurements have to be precise, and have to be stirred very thoroughly, or else you end up with grainy candy, and that’s unpleasant. Though, being thorough here didn’t really change the pleasantness of the taste in this one. It really tasted like Pepto Bismol Toothpaste. Not…enjoyable. But it was pretty, at least, and so that made us like it more than we otherwise would have.

Otherwise, there are loads more Popin Cooking sets, and I’m sure we’re gonna try them out, because they’re freaking fun to do. Only if we had fine motor skills: we’d be able to do these so much better. But also the fact that we don’t have fine motor skills makes the experience more enjoyable. If we did it all straightforward then that wouldn’t be fun. Surgeons would be the boringest at making these. Pfft!

We found this while we were shopping at one of the Home Pluses close to us, but only one of them has them, while the other doesn’t, so I wouldn’t say that it’s all too consistent. But if you’re not in Korea, and if you’d like to try one of these out yourself, you can pick it up at Gmarket.

  1. There are hard Lego candies you can purchase! I have had them before but I thought they didn’t stack very well like real Lego blocks. Here is the link to buy:

  8. I feel like we had hard candy Legos and gummy Legos at one point in my childhood.
They didn’t stick together well, but I think they tasted all right? They were fun to play with ☺️

  11. You should try the Shin Chan candy kit! It lets you make little butt-puddings.. Like, pudding shaped like a butt. :’) Apparently you add milk instead of water.

  12. I’m guessing it’s the fake strawberry flavor that makes these taste like Pepto Bismol? It saddens me that the manufacturers put so much effort into the packaging and everything only to fail miserably at the flavor aspect. So close!

  13. Fun fact: You can buy most of these kits on Amazon for around 5 usd and free shipping!

I am so jealous of your Poppin Cookin skills (even Simon!). The kits I’ve tried look so jank compared to yours lol

  14. I bought lego rubber molds for my son’s birthday cake, which you could use to make all different textured lego foods. It would just require work by the mold user. So, opportunity is calling…some one else who likes cleaning molds much more than me.

  15. wasabi kit Kats and Pepto-Bismol cookie/cream thingies…. This sounds like something from Harry Potter. Are there ear wax build a cookie sets? I think I will just say Eawwww…. No thank you. I did have fun watching the build it competition. Odd flavored stuff does add to the drama.

  16. My brother actually has diabetes, but it’s the “bad luck” diabetes as he calls it. He calls the other kind “fat people” diabetes, but I think I should persuade him to call it the “poppin cookin” diabetes from now on haha
